Shao He played with Xiao Linzhang for a while until he was too tired to keep his eyes open; only then did she let him be taken to sleep.
"Mother, you mustn’t go." Xiao Linzhang held onto her, refusing to let her leave.
Shao He took off her shoes and socks, climbed into bed, and lay down with him, "Can you fall asleep peacefully now?"

Xiao Linzhang was nestled beside Shao He, his small hand still tightly clenching her garment, as if fearing she would leave.
Shao He smiled and patted his head, stretched lazily as she sat up, and leaned down to kiss her son on the forehead, "Sweetheart, your mother needs to take care of something, but I’ll be back soon."

Shao He shook her head helplessly, leaned over to pick him up, and walked towards the door.
Qingxia, seeing her lady and the child in her arms, was about to reach out to take him, but Shao He stopped her.
