Zheng Dan moved quickly to grab her arm. “What’s improper about this? It’s been a long time since you last met. Others will understand.”

Bi Linglong got agitated. “That’s not what I’m talking about! I’m talking about... being here with you!”

Zheng Dan’s face turned severe. “I didn’t know you looked down on me, Your Majesty. You must think that I’m not qualified to be your sister.”

Bi Linglong exclaimed, “Don’t mock me with such bitchy words. You know what I mean.”

Shortly after Zu An’s departure, the capital had been in disarray, and the Bi clan had been purged in the previous capital upheaval. While Bi Linglong did have allies, there weren’t many people she could rely on. Sang Qien and Zheng Dan had helped her a lot in recent years. One had wisdom, and the other was skilled at socializing. The two of them had helped her resolve many problems. After working together so many times, they had long become friends. With her wits, she could tell that Zheng Dan was just playing with her.

“If you don’t mean that, why don’t you want to be here with me?” Zheng Dan harrumphed.

“It’s different!” Bi Linglong felt as if she was going to be driven mad. She looked to Zu An for help. “Say something, Ah Zu!”

“I think Dandan’s words made sense,” Zu An replied with a straight face. He secretly shot Zheng Dan a thumbs up. You’re the best!

Bi Linglong was dumbstruck. She was about to explode from anger. “You two are in cahoots!”

“It’s only a matter of time before such things happen. You just have to get used to it,” Zheng Dan replied with a grin.

Bi Linglong widened her eyes in astonishment. “Hold on, you've already... tried it before?”

Zheng Dan smiled back at her without saying a word.
