Chapter 2611: Reincarnation
Zu An’s heart quivered. He had just gone to the moon to search for Chang’e, only to learn that the Celestial Court had vanished from the world. He'd been grieving over possibly never meeting the Mermaid Queen again when a clue suddenly popped up here.
The Goddess of Wu Mountain continued, “Little sister Chang’e knows you better. She feels it’s unlikely for any mishap to have befallen you given your wits and strength. There must be a compelling reason why you haven’t looked for us yet. She has been pondering that question, and we concluded that the most likely reason is time.”
The Goddess of Wu Mountain lowered her head in sorrow. “If a day in heaven translates to a year on earth, there could be other temporal disparities in the world too. A spacetime traveler like you might have a different flow of time from us. Our ten thousand years might have been just a few years or even a few days for you.”
The Goddess of Wu Mountain couldn’t hold back her tears anymore.
Zu An felt his heart clench. He wanted to wipe off her tears, but his hands passed right through her projection. That made him feel worse.
“Let’s not talk about sad matters anymore. You must be concerned about little sister Chang’e. She’s famous in the Celestial Court, with many male deities seeing her as their dream lover.” The Goddess of Wu Mountain chuckled. “But little sister Chang’e never paid them any heed. She told them that her heart already belongs to someone else. The male deities were so angry that some declared they would teach that person a lesson. There were several extremely powerful individuals among them. Little did they know that their love rival wasn’t in this world.”
Her teasing words brought a smile to Zu An’s face, though it pained him to be unable to protect the Mermaid Queen from other people’s harassment.
As if sensing his worry, the Goddess of Wu Mountain quickly added, “But there’s nothing to worry. Little sister Chang’e is one with the Frost Palace. No one can hurt her in the Frost Palace, not even the Celestial Emperor.”
Zu An breathed a sigh of relief. At the same time, he became increasingly curious about the Frost Palace’s origin.
“I was worried that little sister Chang’e would feel lonely while I wasn't around, so I offered to bring her a pet to stave off her loneliness. I thought she would choose a cat or a dog, but she is surprisingly fond of rabbits. So, I caught a mutated jade rabbit in the wilderness for her. She was very fond of it,” the Goddess of Wu Mountain said gleefully. She was satisfied with her gift.
