Chapter 301: Why Let The Sister
An Junxi hurriedly walked out of the kitchen, Ai Xi was sitting on the floor crying with a red face, and neither Sister He nor Sister Li could console her.
Jin Xiu was sitting beside her with a new learning machine in his hand, and there were puzzle pieces and toys scattered all over the floor.
She went over to pick up the child while the two maids started to tidy up the toys. An Junxi patted Ai Xi’s back, "Ai Xi, don’t cry. Tell Mommy what happened?"
Ai Xi buried her head in her mother’s arms, crying so hard that she couldn’t speak.
An Junxi looked at her daughter’s grievance and then at Jin Xiu, who was sitting angrily nearby. She asked Sister He, "What happened to the children?"
Sister He said, "Ai Xi wanted to play with the learning machine, but the young master wouldn’t let her. They had a little fight, and Ai Xi started crying."
Sister He didn’t know why the young master’s temper had suddenly changed. He used to always let his sister have her way.
Gu Aixi sobbed, "Brother is bad, woo woo..."
Gu Jin Xiu responded sharply, "It’s mine, and Ai Xi insisted on taking it."
An Junxi wiped away Ai Xi’s tears with a tissue, "Baby, that’s not right. You don’t even know how to use your brother’s learning machine. Why do you want to play with it? You have so many toys of your own."
Gu Ai Xi clung to her mother’s skirt, her big eyes kept glancing at the new thing in her brother’s hand, and she said in a small voice, "I haven’t played with it."
"Even if you haven’t played with it, you can’t do that. It’s your brother’s. You can ask him if you can see it. If he says no, then Ai Xi has to be obedient."
Gu Ai Xi pouted, "Why can’t brother give it to me?"
She didn’t really want to play with it; what hurt her was her usually loving brother didn’t want to play with her and wouldn’t give her the toy.
An Junxi said, "Because your brother is using it, Ai Xi can’t make it difficult for him."
She put the child down on the floor, "Go play with your brother."
Gu Ai Xi walked over to her brother. She wanted to play with him but didn’t know what to say, so she looked back at her mother in confusion.
An Junxi prompted Jin Xiu, "Jin Xiu, play with your sister, okay?"
Gu Jin Xiu moved even further away, "I don’t want to play with her."
Even though Ai Xi was young, she could tell her brother was distancing himself from her. Tears, as big as beans, fell down her cheeks as she stubbornly walked over, "I want to stay here."
Gu Jin Xiu moved a bit further away, keeping his eyes on the learning machine and not looking at his sister. Gu Ai Xi had never been ignored by her brother like this before; she got upset and raised her hand to smack the learning machine to the floor.
Gu Jin Xiu exploded, "What are you doing!"
He frightened Ai Xi. She didn’t know her brother could actually get angry. She cried and rushed back into her mother’s arms, "Mommy, brother is mean, woo woo woo..."
An Junxi noticed something unusual with Jin Xiu, so while consoling her daughter, she asked Jin Xiu, "Is it that something unhappy happened at the training camp? You can tell Mommy."
Gu Jin Xiu picked up the learning machine without looking at his mother, sullenly saying, "No."
An Junxi asked, "Really nothing? If you don’t tell, Mommy will have to ask your teacher."
Gu Jin Xiu impatiently said, "I told you there’s nothing."
An Junxi also became irritated, "Gu Jin Xiu, look at me when you speak; that’s polite."
Gu Jin Xiu was still afraid of his mother getting angry; after all, he didn’t have any other mother. He glanced at An Junxi but quickly looked away. An Junxi couldn’t do anything with him, "After you eat, go upstairs and rest for a while; we’ll talk about it tonight."
Gu Jin Xiu was very uncooperative, "I don’t want to eat."
At this time, Sister He ran into the kitchen, "It seems burnt. Did someone forget to turn off the stove?"
An Junxi smelled the burnt odor in the air and shrugged, "Alright, now even if you want to eat, you can’t. I only cook once a week; if you want to eat, you’ll have to wait until next week."
Gu Jin Xiu touched his little tummy; he actually did want to eat, but he couldn’t show it, otherwise, it would be very embarrassing.
An Junxi sat down beside him with Ai Xi in her arms, "What your sister did was wrong; you can point out her mistakes, but it’s not good to be mean to her. She’s not even two years old yet."
Gu Ai Xi lay against her mother’s chest, her eyes still glistening with tears. She looked pitifully at her brother, not understanding why he was different after coming back.
Gu Jin Xiu felt quite guilty seeing his sister looking so pitiful, but he still said, "She won’t listen no matter how I tell her."
Ai Xi was really unhappy; she felt her brother was being unkind to her.
"Brother, let me play."
Gu Jin Xiu put the learning machine into his backpack, "No."
Ai Xi got down from her mother’s lap, "I want to play."
An Junxi had a headache, "Ai Xi, it’s your brother’s. You can’t just take whatever you want; nobody can do that."
Ai Xi couldn’t understand; her brother always gave way to her before, why not now? Did he not like her anymore?
She threw a tantrum and scattered the fruit on the table all over the floor, "I just want it!"
An Junxi stood up, "Gu Ai Xi!"
Gu Ai Xi saw that even her mother was scolding her, and she started crying, "Woo woo, Mommy is bad, I want Daddy..."
Liang Huiyun and Gu Kuangyong had just returned from the Yin Family. As they got to the door, they heard the child crying inside. Liang Huiyun started to run inside, but Gu Kuangyong held her back, "Let’s see what’s happening first."
Liang Huiyun was anxious, "Ai Xi is crying, aren’t you worried?"
Gu Kuangyong said, "Jun Xi is the mother, after all. You are just the grandmother. Why intervene?"
Liang Huiyun said unhappily, "Can’t a mother-in-law even manage her daughter-in-law?"
Gu Kuangyong advised her not to go overboard, "If we interfere, things will get complicated. Let’s observe first."
Liang Huiyun didn’t want to argue with him. They walked to a nearby window and looked inside. Seeing Ai Xi crying with tears streaming down her face, Liang Huiyun felt extremely distressed and quietly cursed An Junxi, "We just stepped out for a bit, and she made the child cry. Can she even take care of kids?"
Gu Kuangyong told her not to speak, "You don’t know the situation; don’t jump to conclusions."
Ai Xi cried for her father. An Junxi couldn’t bear to see her daughter cry, but her daughter was indeed very naughty today. "Mommy told you not to waste food; why did you scatter the fruit all over the floor?"
Ai Xi sobbed, "Brother won’t let me play."
"Even if brother doesn’t let you play, you can’t do this."
Sister Li tried to persuade the young master, "Young master, just let your sister play. It’s so painful to see her cry like this."
Gu Jin Xiu didn’t want his sister to cry either. Hearing Sister Li’s words, he was not willing to give way, "Why should I let her? I won’t."
Ai Xi cried even louder, "I just want to!"
She went up to grab her brother’s backpack, but Gu Jin Xiu held it protectively, "You can’t have it!"
An Junxi was afraid the two children would start fighting. She picked Ai Xi up, "You have so many toys; why do you have to have your brother’s? Jin Xiu, just play with your sister for a while. She just wants to play with you."
Gu Jin Xiu felt a bit soft-hearted but then remembered what his grandmother had said. He just didn’t want to give in.
Grandmother was right. Mom only loved her own child, not him because she wasn’t his real mother.
He said with reddened eyes, "Why does she always have to take my things? You all just side with her."
An Junxi’s heart skipped a beat. Jin Xiu had never said something like this before; who taught him this?
