Chapter 931 - 481 Raven Rules and the Heretic
Ivita had never realized how inconvenient the Law could be. As he traveled from the western border of Alsace to the Raven Kingdom, he didn’t know how many Laws he would encounter along the way.
Originally, this short distance could have been covered in an instant with Spatial Magic in the Star Realm.
Now, however, he could only traverse the wilderness that lay in the interstices of the various Law-ruled regions.
But the Laws he primarily avoided were those at the kingdom level and duchy level. Other regional independent Laws had limited power and couldn’t restrain Ivita.
For example, when he passed through Gradenburg within the Holy Empire, he discovered a niche Law called the Mycelium Law. It seemed to be because a large portion of the local human population had some fungal heritage in their bloodlines.
The fungal people digested the bottom layer of the local ecological chain, facilitating the area’s ecological cycle. Every person entering had to allow some mycelium to attach to their bodies, enabling the Law to monitor outsiders.
However, when Ivita passed through, he simply ignored this Law, suppressed the mycelium of the Law, and then used Spatial Magic to leave the area directly, causing the local Law to become quite angry—as did Gradenburg’s ruler, the Earl.
There were many such independent Laws within the Empire. This was because some Imperial Emperors tore the universal Law and bolstered the independent Laws of local vassal countries. Conflicts between these Laws and the universal Law meant that the Empire’s vassal countries became in effect many independent nations.
When Ivita bypassed the Imperial Emperor’s direct crown territories and entered the territory of the Raven Kingdom from the border of the Sylimia Kingdom, he was still slightly shocked. By then, the landscape of the Raven Kingdom was shattered, and the Raven Law of the Raven Kingdom seemed to be devoured by the Law of the heretics, which was nearing the universality of Law.
But it was still struggling.
The conflict between Laws caused there to be several inconsistently sized suns in the sky above the Raven Kingdom, a physical distortion created by the clashing Laws. These suns, from different phase planes, were now all appearing over the lands of the Raven Kingdom.
The kingdom’s land was struck by severe drought.
