Chapter 895 - 464: The Royal Tomb of Alsace in the Star Realm
Ivita searched the depths of the Star Realm all day, but the Tomb of the Gods was too vast, and he did not find God Charlemagne and the others. Instead, he encountered a deity with medium divine power, an assassin deity who had stepped out of the Divine Kingdom and was covered in auras of death and murderous fluctuations.
Ivita carefully avoided him, to prevent getting entangled.
He also came across some floating god spawn corpses in the Star Realm. These god spawn were things created by the spirits touching the power of corruption, and some were the unfortunate offspring of unspeakable acts between spirits, tainted by the external forces of corruption, turning into despised god spawn.
Because these corpses contained a portion of divinity, when they died, they also fell into the depths of the Star Realm, but they were utterly dead, forever floating in its depths.
Ivita saw that on the decaying flesh of these god spawn corpses, there were worms with twisted bodies growing all over. Some of the Star Realm spiritual insects were black and began attacking their peers as soon as they emerged. Others were white and did not attack other insects actively; they only fed on the corpses of dead insects.
Ivita noticed that these Star Realm spiritual insects had a limited lifespan. The Tomb of the Gods was constantly drawing their life energy. To survive, these differently colored insects fought and devoured each other to gain the spiritual energy from their counterparts and sustain their own existence.
The lifespan of these insects was about half an hour, which meant about every half hour, a batch would die.
The end result of their mutual devouring was that after devouring each other, they began to undergo a transformation, evolving into a race that could resist the life energy extraction of the Tomb of the Gods. Their surfaces were shrouded in spiritual runes that verged on divine energy, preventing the Tomb of the Gods from further draining their life force.
Ivita noted that these runes allowed them to survive in both the Tomb of the Gods and the Star Realm, but also made them completely unsuited to the primary material plane. Likely, upon entering the material plane, they would be repelled by it.
Some of the white Star Realm insects evolved into beings about 3 meters tall with silver runes all over their body, very thin stature, arms so long they passed their knees, and disproportionately large heads, giving an overall appearance similar to alien-like creatures of the Star Realm Spirit Clan.
