Chapter 87 Exchange for Eggs (1)_1
Grandma Miao was always one to freeload off others’ meat. Even after getting two pieces, she wasn’t satisfied. Seeing Lady Zhu leading Wenbo over as well, Si Ya’s little face instantly turned gloomy.
Lady Zhu, noticing Grandma Miao was also there, holding a pancake topped with bamboo rat meat, let out a low grunt of anger and came in with a bowl, "Even if you’ve split the household, shouldn’t you still think of your parents when you eat good food?"
Lady Fang, seeing her holding the bowl, opened her mouth slightly, unsure of how to refuse her.
Grandma Miao watched from the side, secretly regretting not taking a dish or a bowl herself to get a few more pieces. Now that this sow had arrived, she was left with only these two pieces to pick her teeth.
"Sit down," Pei Qin said, passing a steamed bun to Lady Fang.
Lady Fang took it, but as she looked at Lady Zhu, she couldn’t bring herself to sit down. "Mother," she called out weakly.
Seeing that she wasn’t offered meat voluntarily, Lady Zhu’s expression grew uglier; however, upon glancing at Pei Qin, who had already started eating the meat, she swallowed her anger and said nothing, pursing her lips as she handed the bowl to Lady Fang.
Wenbo greedily eyed the bamboo rat meat wafting with aroma in the basin on the table, wishing he could just take the whole basin. Even if the bowl was filled, it wouldn’t be enough for more than a few pieces.
Pei Qin stood up and pulled Lady Fang to sit in the back while she took a seat at the front. "Tomorrow, chop a couple more bundles of firewood and save some charcoal for use. Snow will be upon us before long."
In the afternoon, it was heard that they bought cotton, rice, flour, and a heap of other things. Lady Zhu was already extremely vexed. They had just had a dispute over the private savings, and she hadn’t done or said anything significant. Yet, over just a bowl of meat, such a scene unfolded, angering her so much that she gritted her teeth, "Lady Fang! Do you even regard me as your mother-in-law anymore!?"
