Chapter 3193: Bestowing Authority
Rui’s words were rooted in truth.
None of the leaders of human civilization were eager to re-engage in a conquest of territory within the continent. Part of it was, of course, that they couldn’t afford to divert resources away from war-building to the looming all-out world war.
But another part of it was that the leaders of human civilization were truly terrified of the consequences.
Even though the Beast Incursion could not happen without the Authority of Alpha, there was a popular sentiment among not just the people, but also the leaders of human civilization that the Beast Incursion was karma for centuries of destruction of the Beast Domain.
And while there always were expansionists who sought to re-establish human civilization’s dominance on the continent once more, the political will to leave the beasts the hell alone was much greater.
Conquering the Beast Domain would mean picking a fight with beasts, and human civilization was far too traumatized by the Beast Incursion. There was also the fact that beasts and monsters could become part of the military power of the nation, as proven recently with Rui’s Beast Excursion.
"Rest assured that I will ensure that human civilization will not set one inch inwards," Rui promised. "Except for high-speed continental transport, I guess. We need to be able to shift Martial Artists across the continent as fast as possible, and that requires building a network of economic corridors."
The Elder Tree was more than amenable to such reasonable needs. Human civilization is the protector of this continent from outsiders now. I can assure that most flora and fauna are willing to cooperate in a mutually beneficial relationship.
Rui smiled. "I’m glad to hear that. I will be needing your help in that regard. I may be the technical Emperor of the Beast Domain, but you are much more situated in a position to coordinate the Beast Domain and potentially even more. After all, your little offspring gave us a lot of trouble in the last few years of the Beast Incursion."
