He found Amare by his side in the isolated chamber where he was placed for recuperation. She knelt on the ground, gazing at him with a gentle gaze as her head rested on her hands.
She smiled at him softly. "Good sleep?"
"The best," Rui replied with a determined tone. "Let’s get to work."
"The Psycher has requested a meeting with you," Amare remarked as she watched him get out of bed. "He asked me to remind you of your debt to him and that he had waited eleven years for it."
Rui heaved a sigh. "Fine. But the very moment I’m done with this Psycher business, I’m going to bury myself in dealing with evosapien biology."
"Didn’t you say you would need the Divine Doctor?"
"Well, probably, but I’m not so helpless that I can’t experiment and figure it out," Rui replied. "If the Divine Doctor didn’t exist, I would not be resigned to never figuring it out; it’s just easier with him because of his knowledge. I will try an initial round of experiments, but if that doesn’t work out, then I will have to look for him in the True World. It will probably take some time."
"Is he hard to find?" she raised an eyebrow.
"Very," Rui recalled how far he needed to go to find him the first time. "I needed to track down the Silas Clan, which was also very difficult to find and use my grandmother’s prophecy to find him, along with other innovations."
