After You Zixi left, Chuzheng was getting ready to sneak a peek at the card.
Who knew that the moment she pushed the door open, Chi Gui was standing right behind it, eyes unfocused, like a wooden statue.

Chuzheng still had a bit of stuff in the fridge. She did a quick simple prep and brought it out for Chi Gui.
Chi Gui buried his head in the food, eating a bit fast. His cheeks were stuffed full, soft messy hair hanging down, blocking his eyes.
"Slow down." Chuzheng poured him a glass of water. "Don’t choke." If you choke I’ll have to deal with it.
When Chi Gui finished eating, he stared at the now empty bowl, dazed.
Chuzheng followed his gaze. After a while, she asked, "Didn’t get enough? There’s more, want some?"
Chi Gui came back to himself, put down the chopsticks, and shook his head. "Thanks."
Chuzheng replied politely, "You’re welcome."

Outside the window, the rain kept falling. In the room, the boy lay on the bed, sleeping restlessly.
No one knew how long had passed when his tightly shut eyes suddenly opened, his breathing a little rushed.
Chi Gui’s throat was dry, even swallowing felt hard.

"You’ve got a fever." Chuzheng reached out to feel his forehead. "I’m watching you."
His burning forehead was pressed by a cool palm, and it instantly felt soothing.
Only now did Chi Gui realize his head was muddled and his body had no strength.
He avoided Chuzheng’s hand a bit awkwardly. "I’m fine... You don’t need to stay here, go sleep in your room."
"This is my place. I’ll be wherever I want." Chuzheng pulled the quilt up over him. "Sleep."
