Capítulo 1273: Chapter 1273: River God Above (19)

Chuzheng didn’t see the Tongtian Temple, only the Lingxiao Treasure Palace.

According to Xuan Ying’s memories, the place that should have been the Tongtian Temple was rebuilt into a gigantic white jade plaza.

Several white jade pillars towering into the mist stood on the plaza.

They were spread irregularly across the white jade plaza; just as Chuzheng wanted to go over and take a look, Xuan Ying pulled her back.

Chuzheng glanced back at him.

“There’s a formation.”

Xuan Ying plucked a twig from nearby and flicked it toward the plaza.

As the twig landed, the huge white jade pillars suddenly began to rotate, faint light rising from the ground and reflecting upon the pillars, revealing strong and graceful characters.

Chuzheng felt those characters looked somewhat like names…

Xuan Ying’s brow slightly furrowed, his eyes somewhat dim: “This is the Divine Seal, how could it be moved here?”

“Divine Seal? What is that?” As a mortal, Chuzheng was bewildered, completely unfamiliar with immortal matters.

After speaking, Xuan Ying fell silent.

He only remembered this, and knew it shouldn’t be here, but what the Divine Seal was, he felt a bit vague about.

Xuan Ying tried hard to recall, yet a piercing pain began to slowly encroach.

“If you can’t remember, then don’t think about it.”

The girl’s clear voice landed in his ears, her wrist held by someone.

“Don’t think about it.”

Though the voice was calm and uninflected, Xuan Ying inexplicably detected a hint of affection within.

Whether it was the effect of Chuzheng’s voice or not, suddenly some memories surged forth.

Xuan Ying steadied himself, looking at the still-running Divine Seal: “The Divine Seal is the mark left by every god in the Divine Realm, similar to the divine seal, containing the purest power.”

The Divine Seal is essentially the Divine Realm’s genealogy.

Every god’s name is inscribed on it.

Xuan Ying stared at the white jade pillars closely for a moment: “The names here seem to include some that aren’t from the Divine Clan.”

Although his memory was fragmented, some names were undoubtedly from the Demon Clan…

The white jade pillars gradually stopped rotating, the light dissipating, returning to their previous positions.

Chuzheng touched her chin, pondering deeply: “Demon Clan? Why would names from the Demon Clan appear on something from the Divine Realm?” Could there be interspecies marriage?

The love between gods and demons has always been a compelling novel theme, yet she hadn’t heard of any demon being audacious enough to inscribe their name into the genealogy of the Divine Clan.

Xuan Ying evidently didn’t know either.

The two circled the white jade pillars several times, aside from Xuan Ying mentioning some names not belonging to the Divine Clan, there was nothing else.

Chuzheng rolled up her sleeves, preparing to go in for a look.

“What are you doing?”

Noticing her movement, Xuan Ying quickly emerged right before her.

“Going in to take a look.”

“There’s a formation inside…” Thıs text ıs hosted at novel[f]ire.net

“Hmm.” Chuzheng boldly patted her chest: “Relax, I’m very capable.”

Without waiting for Xuan Ying’s reaction, she instantly entered, moving swiftly beyond his attempts to stop her.

Upon Chuzheng’s entry, the white jade pillars started rotating once again; Xuan Ying stood outside, inexplicably tense, though he hadn’t realized why his nerves were taut, already standing inside.

“How can you be so reckless!” Xuan Ying admonished Chuzheng.

Chuzheng wasn’t particularly concerned: “It’s nothing, isn’t it?”

The white jade pillars were ‘simply’ operational, having no aggressive function.

“What if something did happen?”

“What does that have to do with you?”

“…”

Xuan Ying was stumped into silence by that statement.

Indeed!

It had nothing to do with him.

Chuzheng pondered for a moment, suddenly leaning close to Xuan Ying: “Do you care about me?”

Xuan Ying: “You’re overthinking it.”

“Oh.”

Xuan Ying couldn’t decipher what that ‘oh’ intended to convey, simply turning his head to examine the nearby white jade pillar.

The rotation of these white jade pillars seemed to follow a pattern, rotating toward a specific direction, in endless cycles.

Crack—

A subtle sound echoed beside Xuan Ying, followed by a rising beam of light, so swift that he barely reacted.

He could only manage to grab hold of Chuzheng, erecting a barrier to shield them both.

The surrounding scene unfurled, the white jade pillars vanished, and they were instantly standing atop a great hall, with a pool in its center, above which Xuan Ying was conspicuously bound by chains.

Xuan Ying’s body stiffened, staring directly at himself tied there, an indescribable peculiarity taking hold.

Importantly, it was not just him who saw this.

Chuzheng gazed at the person above the pool, nudging him with her elbow: “Is that you?”

Xuan Ying remained silent, Chuzheng merely felt a sharp, fleeting killing intent, unclear whom it targeted.

Above the pool, Xuan Ying wore a disheveled white robe, his hair casually scattered behind him.

The face bore no difference from Xuan Ying’s, yet compared to the current Xuan Ying, he exuded an aura of bold defiance.

The heavy hall doors were pushed open, someone entered from outside.

They stood beside the pool, the door-opener was side-faced towards them, approaching the pool, their appearance somewhat blurred.

The person stood by the pool, looking up at the one bound.

“Xuan Ying, do you have anything left to say?” the person asked.

Chained up, the person responded with blood-tinged words: “If I don’t die today, I won’t spare any of you.”

The person below the pool looked up silently, after a long while, indifferently responded: “Hopefully that day comes.”

The person flew up, stood directly before Xuan Ying, and reached his hand toward Xuan Ying’s chest.

Chuzheng moved her foot, the scene abruptly vanished.

They stood once more among the white jade pillars.

Xuan Ying inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief, thankful the rest hadn’t shown…

But how could this scene suddenly appear?

Chuzheng was equally puzzled, she glanced down at where she had stepped earlier, three seconds later Chuzheng stepped once more, and the scene reappeared, yet this time it was not the hall, but atop an Immortal Mountain, two immortal-beldered individuals seated amidst clouds, deep in a game.

There was no sound at all, akin to watching a silent play.

Chuzheng let go, the scene shifted again.

Again it was different…

Different people, different scenery…

Chuzheng couldn’t see the initial scene anymore.

Chuzheng turned to Xuan Ying: “Was that scene just now real?”

Xuan Ying replied slowly: “Just an illusion.”

Chuzheng raised her hand to his chest, her clear eyes coldly locking onto him: “Really? An illusion? What about your heart?”

Under her hand, it was icy cold, absent of any heartbeat.

He had mentioned before that he had no heart.

Where was his heart?

What had that person done to him?

The two quietly gazed at one another, then Xuan Ying was first to avert his eyes: “This matter is none of your concern.”

“Does it hurt?”

Though Xuan Ying had no heart, he still felt a form of palpitations, it seemed… that within that empty thorax, a heart was slowly beginning to take form, gradually starting to beat.

“It’s been so long, I don’t remember.” Xuan Ying replied.

“Who was that person?” Chuzheng asked again.

“I don’t remember.” Xuan Ying lowered his lashes, veiling his eyes’ cold glint.

He couldn’t recall the person’s appearance, but it didn’t matter, he remembered everything he endured, knew it was all due to the Divine Realm’s people.

Once he returned to the Divine Realm, he’d ultimately find out who that person was.
