Capítulo 1271: Chapter 1271: River God Above (17)

On the other side.

Xuan Ying awoke from the red ‘Coral Forest’, with the Little Golden Dragon floating mid-air, using its tail to ward off the blood-colored vines constantly probing towards them.

“Master!”

The Little Golden Dragon exclaimed excitedly upon seeing Xuan Ying awake.

Xuan Ying raised his hand to rub his temples: “What is this place?”

“I don’t know, we suddenly ended up here,” said the Little Golden Dragon. “These things are alive.”

Xuan Ying looked at the vines that kept probing, scanning the ground with his gaze: “Where’s Chuzheng?”

The Little Golden Dragon indicated that it hadn’t seen anyone, it was alone there.

Xuan Ying stood up and waved his hand to cut through the vines, which recoiled as if in pain.

What kind of place is this?

Xuan Ying had never seen or heard of such things; he decided to first find a way to leave while searching for Chuzheng.

Of course, Xuan Ying wasn’t overly worried. That little girl wasn’t as weak as he thought.

He just didn’t know what power she was using…

Xuan Ying cautiously made his way through the Coral Forest. The vines would sometimes attack him. After Xuan Ying roughly cut through them several times, they became timid, attacking only tentatively.

The Coral Forest seemed endless, as Xuan Ying walked for a long time without seeing an exit.

The light above remained unchanged…

Here, there seemed to be no distinction between day and night.

Rustling sounds…

These noises echoed from all directions. Xuan Ying looked around, the vines hanging quietly without movement.

But the sound got closer…

Rustling…

Closer and closer.

It was almost as if it was right beside his ear, clear yet eerie.

Whoosh—

Xuan Ying sidestepped, as a vine as thick as an arm brushed past his cheek. Missing its mark, the vine turned in the air and shot back towards him.

From all directions, vines sprang forth, crisscrossing as they tried to trap Xuan Ying in the middle.

The dark figure moved up and down among the vines, occasionally cutting through one which then fell to the ground. ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ noᴠelfire.net

These vines were different from the ones hanging on the trees. Once cut, they quickly fused with the ground and grew more vines.

In just a short while, the area was taken over by these arm-thick vines.

Xuan Ying dared not cut them again and leapt into the air, running along the vines in one direction.

The Golden Dragon trailed behind, dispatching any vine that shot up.

Rustling sounds continued incessantly; Xuan Ying didn’t know how many of these things were in the forest.

But they were not easy to deal with…

“Master, watch out!!”

The Little Golden Dragon suddenly shouted in alarm.

Several vines attacked simultaneously from the front, and as they swept through, even the air seemed to vibrate.

Surrounded from all sides, with no place to hide, Xuan Ying’s eyes caught a flash of silver light. As it swept by, the vines disintegrated completely.

Deep within the fiery Coral Forest, accompanied by a flash of silver light, a graceful figure swept rapidly toward him.

The wind brushed past Xuan Ying’s face as Chuzheng grabbed his wrist, pulling him aside.

Chuzheng raised her hand, silver light swiftly enveloping the vine, which struggled before turning into powder that softly fell among the Coral Forest.

“Are you alright?”

Chuzheng supported Xuan Ying with one hand, asking in a flat tone.

The Good Person Card, even if it turns villainous, still needs me!

The poor thing just has a tough life.

Xuan Ying looked fixedly at her for three seconds, his lips slightly parted: “I’m fine.”

“That’s good.”

Xuan Ying discreetly examined her: “And you?”

“What could possibly be wrong with me?” The boss is just fine!

The rustling in the woods didn’t cease; there were still vines lurking, waiting for an opportunity.

“Let’s get out of here first.” Chuzheng pulled Xuan Ying, heading in one direction.

Xuan Ying’s gaze fell on her hand, but he didn’t resist, following her through the Coral Forest.

The probing vines were turned to powder by the silver light before they could get close.

“What is this place?”

Chuzheng slightly tilted her head: “You don’t know?”

“Mm.” Xuan Ying paused: “Do you know where this is?”

Chuzheng turned her head back: “No idea.”

“…”

Chuzheng initially hadn’t planned to enter here, but the burning sensation on her wrist intensified, now her entire arm was numb.

That Skeleton was dangerously toxic!

“Have you encountered the Skeleton People?” Chuzheng asked Xuan Ying.

“Skeleton People?” Xuan Ying shook his head: “No, when I woke up, I was already here.”

He had only encountered these strange vines.

“No is good.” Chuzheng’s fingers slid down, grasping Xuan Ying’s palm: “Stay close.”

Xuan Ying: “??”

Xuan Ying felt that their interaction was somewhat strange. How did she take control the moment she appeared?

Yet he found little resistance in his heart.

Just like last time, when she proposed such a condition, he didn’t refuse…

Xuan Ying exhaled, suppressing those chaotic emotions, focusing on the surrounding changes with vigilance.

The vines rustled along with them but didn’t attack, seemingly wary of Chuzheng.

Just like the initial attack vines, realizing they couldn’t win, they ceased moving recklessly.

Xuan Ying broke the eerie atmosphere: “What do you think this place is?”

“No idea, I’m just a mortal,” Chuzheng uncooperatively replied.

“…”

Indeed.

Why does that seem right?

Given her bizarre powers, could she be just a mortal?

But since Chuzheng wouldn’t say, Xuan Ying had no choice.

Initially, Chuzheng held his hand, but then possibly finding it troublesome, she let go, and they walked one behind the other.

After who knows how long, they finally saw the exit of the Coral Forest.

“Wait a moment.”

Xuan Ying stopped the carefree Chuzheng walking out ahead.

“We don’t know what the situation is outside, it’s better to be cautious.”

Chuzheng: “…”

Xuan Ying sent the Little Golden Dragon out first. It flew out of the Coral Forest and quickly returned: “It’s safe.”

Outside the Coral Forest was a cliff, below which lay a mountain valley shrouded in mist, obscuring what lay within but revealing faint building outlines through the clouds.

A palace flew out from Chuzheng’s body, causing Xuan Ying’s eyebrow to arch, but before he could speak, he saw Chuzheng grab the palace and thrust it in front of him: “Here.”

The palace: “…”

Xuan Ying: “…”

The palace suddenly expanded, breaking free from Chuzheng’s hand, soaring into the sky.

Xuan Ying took a while before speaking: “You can call it out now?”

Chuzheng replied coolly: “No.”

This tiny broken palace treated her body like an inn, coming and going as it pleased. It’s simply outrageous.

“Did it come out on its own?”

“Mm.”

Chuzheng grabbed Xuan Ying, leaping suddenly into mid-air.

Still thinking about the palace, Xuan Ying was caught off guard by the unexpected loss of balance, the rushing wind whipping against his face.

He turned his eyes to see her face close at hand, even able to discern every distinct eyelash…

Chuzheng suddenly glanced aside, meeting Xuan Ying’s gaze.

Xuan Ying was suddenly pulled into those pupils, feeling as though he had fallen into an endless frozen abyss as the world spun around him.
