Chapter 1231: Born Singer (Part 11)
Chuzheng turned around to look at the trio behind her.
Sheng Yan had his head down, the backstage light highlighting the edges of his profile, giving his features a soft, gentle appearance, looking rather well-behaved.
Chuzheng glanced at his drooping hair, her fingertips itching. Finally, she reached out her "evil hand" and ruffled it a couple of times. It was soft and smooth...
Soft, so soft...
Startled by the head pat, Sheng Yan raised his head in surprise.
He looked into Chuzheng’s serious face, and blinked lightly, his clear eyes full of confusion.
Chuzheng maintained a straight face and said earnestly, "Good luck."
Sheng Yan was stunned for three seconds, then slowly smiled, "Yeah."
-
For this competition, there were six judges in total, three were industry professionals, and the other three were popular singers.
Hua Huai went on stage before them, scoring quite high, temporarily ranking third.
By the time Sheng Yan and his team were up, the competition was nearing the end.
At this point, if they couldn’t present a work that left a strong impression, it would be hard to surpass the previous scores due to audience fatigue.
Chuzheng stood backstage with arms crossed, watching the screen. The stage lights focused on the young man, his face slightly obscured, but as the lights spread, his face suddenly came into sharp relief.
The Sheng Yan standing on stage was completely different from the Little White Rabbit he was privately. He exuded confidence, flair... and a love for music, making him seem to shine.
"Is he suffering from a split personality?"
Chuzheng asked King’s Account.
[...Can’t you ever hope for a Good Person Card?]
"..."
-
"Hua Huai!"
Hua Huai was called out in the hallway.
"Young Master Liang." Hua Huai looked at the approaching person, his expression slightly grim. The incident last time had caused Young Master Liang to hold a grudge. If it wasn’t for Fang Jun, he wouldn’t even have been able to participate in today’s competition.
"Are you filming a show?" Young Master Liang seemed no longer angry, casually wrapping an arm around Hua Huai’s shoulder, as if they were best buds.
Hua Huai didn’t dare confront Young Master Liang head-on and humbly said, "Participating in a competition... Why is Young Master Liang here?"
"There’s a program next door that I invested in, just popped by to check it out."
Young Master Liang usually invested for women, and Hua Huai accompanied this with a smile.
"I think I just saw that woman, Meng Chuzheng..." Young Master Liang pressed down on Hua Huai’s shoulder, "What’s she doing here? I heard she already resigned from your company... She runs away quite fast."
Young Master Liang was clearly biting his words towards the end.
Hua Huai didn’t expect Young Master Liang to spot Chuzheng. His eyes flickered, "She brought some talents to compete."
Young Master Liang asked, "She didn’t bring you?"
Hua Huai shook his head.
Young Master Liang seemed really interested, "Who did she bring? Tell me."
Knowing that Young Master Liang was still holding a grudge from the last incident, Hua Huai immediately spilled everything he knew, like pouring beans from a bamboo tube.
After parting ways with Young Master Liang, Hua Huai returned backstage and glanced at Chuzheng.
The people she brought had already come down. The lead vocalist was standing in front of her, and she was raising her hand, patting his head.
Hua Huai’s heart felt like it was pricked by a needle—this girl should be revolving around him...
-
The rankings soon came out. Sheng Yan’s team ranked seventh, just a few votes shy of sixth.
Being their first time on such a large stage, they likely didn’t adjust well. Chuzheng told them to go back and prepare well for the upcoming rounds.
The second episode was divided into six teams, with players fighting 1V1 duels based on the first round’s ranking, starting from the bottom.
To ensure fairness, opponents were decided by drawing lots.
The same scoring system applied, winners advanced directly, while the losers were put on hold. There would be a revival round later on.
After the second episode was recorded and the post-production of the first episode ended, it was time for the official announcement.
Due to Sheng Yan’s looks, he made a face cameo in the preview.
Suddenly, underneath the official blog were requests for the little brother’s information, but the official kept it tightly under wraps, and netizens tried their best but found no useful information.
[This is a singing contest, not a beauty pageant. What if he sings terribly!]
[I actually saw Hua Huai!]
[Is Hua Huai finally going to make it big?!]
[I still like that little brother. He’s really good-looking.]
[Our XX is good-looking too, check him out.]
[Hua Huai is the most handsome, no objections accepted.]
Even though Hua Huai had been obscure for a long time, he still had one or two fans obsessed with his looks. With only a face reveal and no singing in the preview, Hua Huai’s face attracted quite a following.
Chuzheng thought Hua Huai had chosen the wrong field. He should’ve gone to the acting circle next door instead of dabbling in the music world.
"Have you registered your Weibo accounts?"
Mu Sheng, who was on a call with his sister, looked up when he heard Chuzheng’s voice, "We need Weibo accounts?"
Chuzheng replied, "Yeah, if you don’t have one, register. If you already do, remember to delete any embarrassing history." He didn’t want people digging up old scandals for PR later.
Mu Sheng had one, where he had posted random stuff. Hearing Chuzheng, he quickly went to clean up his history thoroughly.
"What about you?" Chuzheng asked Sheng Yan, who was polishing his guitar nearby.
"I don’t have one," Sheng Yan said.
Chuzheng told him to register, so Sheng Yan obliged, taking out his phone to download and sign up for Weibo.
Mu Sheng was loudly curious, "Wait a minute, should we choose similar names?"
"Probably not," Sheng Yan replied.
"Why not? Don’t you think it would be impactful?"
"..." Sheng Yan timidly said, "I don’t think so."
Since Sheng Yan wasn’t for it, Mu Sheng didn’t insist and chose an incredibly long name "Mu Sheng’s Baby is Mumu."
"Boss, quickly follow me."
Chuzheng searched for the name, followed him. Mu Sheng seemed unrestrained in keeping his marriage a secret, his first Weibo post was a marriage certificate and a ’hands’ photo of the family of three, boldly declaring himself as a flower of grass.
Chuzheng didn’t comment and proceeded to search for Qu Jiangxiao.
Qu Jiangxiao kept it simple, just with the name Qu Jiangxiao.
"Yours?"
"I haven’t finished setting it up," Sheng Yan was still focused on registering. Once done, he looked up, "It’s ready..."
Sheng Yan was startled by the face close to him, causing him to recoil in shock and fall to the ground with a thud.
Chuzheng: "..."
Am I that scary?
The sound of the fall caught Mu Sheng and Qu Jiangxiao’s attention, "Xiao Yan, what are you doing?"
Sheng Yan quickly scrambled up, "N-Nothing."
He distanced himself from Chuzheng, handing his phone to her to let her search for herself.
Once Chuzheng finished following, Sheng Yan whispered, "Why... were you so close to me?"
"Normal distance." Chuzheng demonstrated the distance between them.
How is this close?
Who taught the Good Person Card math?!
"Just now..." Sheng Yan’s face was burning, his eyes darting everywhere but at Chuzheng.
"I wanted to check if you were literate." Chuzheng reached out to pat his head again, "It took you so long."
Sheng Yan: "..."
Sheng Yan felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped over his heart. He took his phone back, puffing his cheeks slightly, and continued fiddling with his guitar.
