But how could Xiao Muli let them off so easily? It was his slip of the tongue that had Situ Xin trek all the way to the Xiao Family Old Mansion. However, Xiao Muli wouldn’t take all the blame upon himself. He felt that the real culprits were the four old geezers sitting right in front of him.
If not for them wanting to stir up trouble for him, talking about meeting the Family Head’s wife, talking about those rules of the Xiao Family, he wouldn’t have slipped up and let Situ Xin come to the Xiao Family Old Mansion.
Thankfully, Situ Xin arrived safely without any issues. But what if something had happened? Whom would he turn to? So, it was unsurprising that Xiao Muli vented all his frustrations on the four elderly members of the Xiao Family.
Xiao Muli had long noticed something off about these four when they faced him.
"Don’t go just yet, elders. Didn’t you say you hadn’t met the Lady of the Xiao Family? Now that Lady Situ Xin is about to arrive, you can’t leave now. Otherwise, if you tell me later that you haven’t met the Family Head’s wife, what am I supposed to do?" Xiao Muli said with a smirk, looking at the four in front of him.
Upon hearing Xiao Muli’s words, the four old geezers who had been ready to stand up and leave adjusted their posture, sat back down on their chairs, and quietly waited for Lady Situ Xin’s arrival.
While the four old geezers sat facing Xiao Muli in a tense silence, bearing the almost imperceptible oppressive aura emanating from him, Situ Xin finally arrived fashionably late. Seeing her, Xiao Muli retracted his aura, much to the relief of the four geezers, who heaved a sigh of relief.
"Baby, why did you come over without having breakfast?" Xiao Muli looked at Uncle Zhong, who was following behind Situ Xin with a plate of pastries, and disapprovingly said to Situ Xin.
"Oh, I felt bored eating alone, and when I heard from Uncle Zhong that some elders were so eager to meet me, I rushed over early in the morning. I didn’t want to make the guests wait too long," Situ Xin said, then turned and pulled a smile at the few elders of the Xiao Family, "Elders, you don’t mind me having some snacks here, right?"
