Situ Jin was definitely not blind to Xiao Muli’s unusual behavior towards Situ Xin. Being fairly meticulous, especially in regards to his precious sister, he had dropped his playful demeanor after Situ Xin left the room and put on a serious expression.
Nibbling slowly on an apple, he said, "Muli, what exactly is going on between you and my Baby sister?"
"Hehe, you noticed, huh? I like Baby, and now I’m actually dating her," Xiao Muli replied without hesitation, eager to validate his relationship. External constraints had previously held him back, mainly Situ Xin’s request, making him hope that Situ Jin would uncover the truth himself.
"What, you’re dating Baby? You, you..." Situ Jin hadn’t expected to receive such an answer from Xiao Muli. He stood up from his chair in a fit of agitation, the apple in his hand now forgotten.
Situ Jin’s gaze bore into Xiao Muli as if he wanted to devour him, but Xiao Muli was not intimidated. Looking straight back, he said, "Jin, I’m serious. I like, no, I love Baby."
"I don’t care whether you’re serious or not. How old is Baby, even? How could you just," Situ Jin’s teeth itched with frustration. "Hmph, if it wasn’t for the serious injury you’re saddled with right now, I would definitely grab you and give you a good beating," after a pause, Situ Jin added, "As for this matter, I’ll inform my grandpa and maternal grandfather. You just deal with it however you see fit."
Having said so, Situ Jin, clutching the apple, turned and strode out of the sickroom.
What Situ Jin didn’t know was that Xiao Muli wasn’t at all frightened by his words. In fact, Muli was eagerly anticipating Situ Jin telling Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo about his relationship with Situ Xin. After leaving Xiao Muli’s hospital room, Situ Xin didn’t go straight home. Instead, she looked for Gao Yong, the chief of the military hospital who claimed to be her disciple, although she had never acknowledged him as such.
Gao Yong’s secretary recognized Situ Xin. Or rather, he had seen her once, and after that encounter, Gao Yong made it clear that Situ Xin was his master, and if she ever came looking for him, she should not be stopped.
So when Situ Xin arrived at the director’s office to see Gao Yong, his secretary greeted her respectfully but did not stop her from entering.
