Chapter 63: Byung Vs Drekk!
The bloodfest was heating up, and Byung found himself against Drekk, who was beginning to understand his actions had no true consequence. The Goblin King? What a joke.
Drekk could give in to his impulses; there was no need to hold himself back any longer.
Byung couldn’t make the first move, he had to be careful about being careless because it could be the last thing he did in this world. Something told him he wouldn’t be reincarnated into another world—this would be the end.
At least he had a weapon, but there was something wrong with all of this at the end of the day.
Byung had the advantage with that weapon, yet fear wouldn’t let him take a step.
He tried to keep a brave face, but he had never faced anything like this before.
Trogzit was nothing compared to him, and Byung took a deep breath to calm his mind because panicking in this situation wouldn’t be ideal.
"Here goes..." Byung muttered under his breath because Drekk would want to punish him for as long as he could.
He would want to savor the fight and treat this like a game of predator against prey, which meant he would have some wriggle room to make a few mistakes.
"I should be strong enough to take some of his attacks," Byung was thinking critically because this was the time to use his brain.
Drekk, however, wasn’t going to wait forever and charged right at him—and the speed was blinding. The way he ran towards Byung was like a wild animal, and this unsettled Byung, but then, he suddenly disappeared from his line of sight.
Byung could barely react before he felt a blow right in his torso, forcing him to hunch over right before Drekk sent another devastating uppercut right into his chin.
This blow was strong enough to send him flying, but Byung managed to hold onto his weapon.
"He is not only fast but stronger than I thought!" Byung thought to himself, realizing he couldn’t take too many of these.
"System! Show me his combat points!" Byung requested right away to gauge his chances of coming out of this alive.
[Ding!]
[Calculating combat points!...]
[Combat points calculated!]
[Combat points: 100!]
Byung kissed his teeth. He stood no chance, and he had already interrupted the bloodfest, so they weren’t playing by any rules. It had been canceled as far as he was concerned, so the two participants didn’t need to be punished for his actions.
He knew he could challenge Drekk, but something told him that wouldn’t work.
He had already won over the goblins, and they should all be able to overpower him if that was the case.
But they were rooted in fear—no one could oppose Drekk because they knew if he survived, it was their death sentence.
But these combat stats... he stood no chance, even though it was just a 20-point difference.
Byung wasn’t sure how big of a gap that was because being strong didn’t mean he had other factors to facilitate strength alone.
Drekk was far superior in speed, but Byung knew he had the ability to evolve, so his potential was endless.
But this obstacle in front of him needed to be stopped. He looked over his shoulder, glaring at the supervisors right in the eyes.
"Take them both and go... The bloodfest is over," Byung commanded, and the supervisors felt the shift in power with this command. Byung spoke with absolute authority, and the supervisors knew they had no reason to listen to him, but their instincts told them otherwise.
At that moment, they knew they were below this goblin and obeyed him soon after.
They evacuated the arena with Trogzit and Gribnox.
Drekk might have been too bloodthirsty to notice, but the goblins were acting in the interest of Byung, despite him just being sentenced to death.
Drekk charged at him once more, but Byung knew what to expect in terms of speed, so he was better prepared to counter him.
He took a big step to the side the moment Drekk tried to grab his face before swinging his axe horizontally, aimed right at Drekk’s chest.
However, Drekk was nimble and ducked down in time to dodge the attack, but lunged to tackle Byung.
Due to Byung’s body still being off balance from swinging, he was left vulnerable to this follow-up as Drekk successfully tackled him. There was no way for him to get out of the way, so this couldn’t be helped, as Drekk did have more experience.
Drekk mounted him and tried to punch his face right away, but Byung managed to move it to the side in time, prompting Drekk to smash the ground with his bare fist.
Drekk recoiled in pain, and this created an opening for Byung. Byung had already established he was on par or stronger than Drekk when it came to strength.
But he needed him to be stationary and in a position where speed became inconsequential.
That brief moment when he recoiled and closed his eyes in pain, Byung landed a punch with all of his strength right beneath his chin.
The very spot he had told Gribnox to target when he fought Trogzit—and the moment the punch connected, everywhere fell silent.
The air became still because the goblins just witnessed Byung land a punch on a Mogul.
This was unheard of.
This was the first time they were witnessing something of this scale—the way Byung moved and fought.
The exchange of punches—they thought Drekk would be exponentially more powerful, but Byung was managing to hold his own.
[Ding!]
[Recalculating combat points...!]
[Calculation complete!]
[Combat points: 150!]
"Please tell me that is for me..." Byung muttered under his breath because Drekk didn’t pass out. Drekk was active, as a trickle of blood dripped down his nose and onto Byung. The green liquid made Byung realize he had only just infuriated him.
[Negative!] The system informed him right away, and a single word escaped his lips.
"Fuck..!" He knew he had fucked up but learned a new thing about his system.
The combat alert allowed him to know which fight he could and couldn’t win.
Drekk was still very much conscious, but the look in his eyes had changed—they were bloodshot.
"T-That fool!" Trogzit thought to himself, catching a glimpse of the situation as he tried to speak, but his broken jaw wouldn’t let him.
"R-Run..." Trogzit tried to run, but his sentence was scrambled, and no one could hear him, talk less of understanding what he was saying.
--
Maui had been defeated by Kragg and Borg but managed to escape the village, though with wounds that severely weakened her.
The good thing was, it wasn’t fatal, so she should be fine, but Maui managed to escape with her weapons. However, she noticed Kragg didn’t plan to kill her—he wanted to capture her alive—but Borg went only for vitals. Borg wished to take her life and kill her.
She was unarmed, so she had no way to defend herself, because if Kragg wanted her dead, she would be dead.
"That Borg... He is poison," Maui muttered under her breath. She realized he had found a way to manipulate events, and it made her question if the story he told her was true.
The problem was Maui didn’t escape into the goblins’ territory; she had managed to escape outside of it, which meant she could go to the other kingdoms even though they shared the same stigma as the goblins.
Maui wasn’t sure it was the best decision because there was no telling what the others would do to her in this state.
This must also be why Kragg didn’t give chase—the fate that awaited her must be worse than death should anyone see her.
"I-I need to get help..." Maui muttered under her breath. Her bleeding torso wouldn’t stop bleeding regardless of what she did.
This meant she wouldn’t last a day with the degree of her injuries, but her willpower should be able to carry her a day and a few hours.
Maui could feel herself slipping in and out of consciousness; she couldn’t understand how she found herself in this situation, but it had happened.
She let her guard down. This was something she didn’t see happening, but it showed just how far Borg had dug his fingers into their minds.
She never liked him from the onset because there was something twisted about him.
Maui could see a body of water; she was thirsty and slowly walked towards it—she was too exhausted to run.
Each step she took, it felt like the water body was further away from her.
"T-This is bad!" Maui thought to herself, but this was the last thought she had before collapsing onto the ground.
"I-I will kill you all...!" Maui swore before everything went black, but then, someone walked towards her.
Whoever this person was, it was unknown, but would Maui’s story come to an end here?
