Chapter 635 - 123: Return to the Ancient Dreams (15)
Gui He was the son of an orc Earl, and though he was the eldest, his family did not favor him for two reasons. First, he never ate human flesh, finding it too cruel. Second, he liked to use a sword, a tool originally forged by elves and mass used in the military.
Such weapons were mostly delicate and tender, with a hint of using gentleness to overcome strength, which was ill-suited for orcs who favored brute force and bluntness. Therefore, orcs greatly disliked using swords as weapons.
Nevertheless, Gui He persisted in his preference for swords, and for that, he had been beaten countless times by his family. Eventually, when his younger brothers and sisters were born, the Earl simply abandoned Gui He, leaving him to his own devices, no longer restraining him.
To forge a long sword suited to his needs, Gui He traveled extensively within the orc territory, seeking craftsmen to create it.
Almost all orc craftsmen refused to make him a long sword, so, left with no choice, Gui He learned the craft himself. After three years and a great expenditure of resources, he finally crafted a sword that could slice through iron like mud.
Thinking of the orc nation’s great competition three years later, Gui He felt it necessary to specifically practice the swordsmanship he had acquired from the elves. Although he did not aim to win the competition, he at least wanted to show off his skills to boost the reputation of swordsmanship and see if he could inspire fellow enthusiasts to study further.
Thus, Gui He arrived at the Hunting Ground established by Nadun, hoping to use fights with Demon Beasts to refine his swordsmanship.
"Sir!"
The captain of the guard at the Hunting Ground saw Gui He’s arrival and hurried forward to salute. Nadun’s Hunting Ground did not entertain commoners; those who came here to hunt for pleasure were mostly orc nobles. Even a Viscount with a lower title was not someone the lowly captain could compare with.
"I wish to hunt; may I know the rules of Uncle Nadun’s place?"
"Responding to sir, our Hunting Ground only requires a payment of an entrance fee, after which you can hunt at will. If a guide is needed, we can arrange an elite to accompany and protect you thoroughly," the captain glanced around Gui He and whispered, "Are you... alone?"
