Chapter 93 - 91: The Rat People’s Uprising
"Why are there so many mouse-people?" Lois smashed another mouse-person’s head with a punch, and when she looked up, she saw the mine still spewing out mouse-people nonstop, which made her feel somewhat desperate.
After Lu Hong rushed into the mine, Lois was at the forefront of the Battle Scar Mercenary Group, having killed more mouse-people than she could count. Think of it as cutting meat; one cut isn’t tiring, but several thousand, definitely, will wear you out. Moreover, mouse-people have decent defensive abilities, so to kill with a single punch requires consuming a significant amount of internal energy.
Standing outside the mine, Lois didn’t dare use a skill with too much destructive power. Once a collapse was triggered, Lu Hong and those previously trapped in the mine would surely die.
"Vice-Captain, what should we do?" Even Lois couldn’t stand such consumption; the situation for her subordinates was, understandably, even worse, as they had been fighting to the point of exhaustion. The person speaking could barely hold his weapon steady with his trembling hands, and he bore deep bone-showing wounds from mouse-people attacks.
"Are you okay?" Lois asked her trusted aide with concern.
"I can kill a couple more, but I’m close to my limit too. The enemy’s numbers are overwhelming, almost infinite. We are short on people. Should we quickly retreat and call for backup from headquarters, to have the second and fourth groups come over?"
It had to be said, the suggestion from Lois’s trusted aide was the best choice under the current circumstances, but Lois refused to give up. Firstly, requesting help would mean the mine vein no longer belonged solely to their third group but would be shared among all Battle Scar groups. Secondly, seeking assistance was seen as disgraceful. Besides, with Lu Hong still inside, retreating would be akin to abandoning him and the brothers trapped in the mine. Was that really the right thing to do?
As Lois hesitated, an overwhelming horde of mouse-people had surrounded them.
At that moment, the mouse-person general swaggered out of the mine, dragging two large hammers, and disdainfully said to Lois and the others, "So you’re the little brothers of my hero?"
"Hero?" Seeing the mouse-person general, the mercenaries were on high alert. Lois was prepared to take down the leader first but stumbled, almost losing her footing, at the mention of "hero."
