Chapter 90 - 88 Caesar’s Guess
"You said you encountered Che Berlin in the Nansha Great Forest?" Late that night, Caesar, leaning back in a chair in the hall, listened intently as Lai Li detailed her expedition but, of course, she mentioned nothing about the Holy Temple.
"Yes, Lu Hong and I were searching for Fina in the Nansha Great Forest when we found that Che Berlin had already grievously wounded the Vice Sect Hierarch, Lando."
"Did he recognize you?" Caesar asked.
Lai Li nodded, "It would have been hard not to recognize me—who else has the strength of a Third Transition but still looks like a young girl?"
"It’s fine if he recognized you, I’m just worried that he might find this place." Caesar seemed wary of this master of Black Tower.
Lai Li pouted, not pleased, "Father, we’re not afraid of him."
"What are you talking about? Of course, I’m not afraid of Che Berlin." Caesar, without elaborating, muttered, "Che Berlin should be staying put in the Beastman Empire. What’s he doing coming back now?"
"Yeah, Dad, I’m curious too. Che Berlin has been lurking in the Beastman Empire for at least fifty years. He must have returned for something important."
"No idea, no idea," Caesar shook his head, unwilling to waste too much thought on Che Berlin, for now there was no clue.
"Can’t you think about it properly? What matters in the Continent of God’s Grace could possibly escape your notice?" Lai Li cooed, genuinely curious and not merely out of lighthearted wonder.
