Chapter 675: Last Words
Li Xiaofei walked through the crowd toward Si Kongxue.
"What do you think you’re doing?" asked Si Xingyun. He looked cautious as he immediately stepped in front of Li Xiaofei. "Stay away from my daughter. Know your place; this is not the time or place for nonsense."
Li Xiaofei didn’t try to force his way forward. Instead, he blew a playful kiss toward Si Kongxue.
The crowd fell into stunned silence. Rumors had long circulated that Li Qingchen and the eldest daughter of the Fengyu Merchant Guild had an improper relationship. Most had dismissed it as baseless gossip, but now... Tsk, tsk, tsk. Something was definitely going on.
Countless pairs of eyes turned toward Si Kongxue, waiting for her reaction. But to their disappointment, she showed no visible response to Li Qingchen's bold public display of affection.
She simply stood there. She neither recoiled in disgust nor blushed with joy. Her brilliant eyes, striking and mesmerizing as always, remained as calm as a still lake. They were utterly devoid of emotion.
But Li Xiaofei could see through her. He could feel the burning intensity hidden deep within those eyes and beneath that serene facade.
He said nothing more as he turned and walked toward the dueling stage. As Si Kongxue watched his retreating figure, her delicate fingers tightened around a small, razor-sharp dagger hidden in her palm.
If you die on the dueling stage, I will follow you in death, she whispered the vow silently in her heart.
It was truly strange. There were people one might meet countless times, brush past in hallways, share rooms with, engage in conversation with, and become deeply familiar with. Yet one would never feel even the slightest spark of emotion.
Then, there were others. People one might meet only once, spend barely a few hours with, share a simple breakfast, exchange a few words. Suddenly, one would be willing to live and die for them.
