Barush finally crawled out of the Realm of Eternal Samsara, battered and bruised.
“Noble Master Xiaofei, from this day forth, Barush shall be your most loyal dog,” he declared, forcing a smile despite his obvious humiliation.
Li Xiaofei, on the other hand, looked entirely satisfied. The feeling of subduing Barush through sheer force was undeniably exhilarating. To ensure his compliance, Li Xiaofei had fed Barush the Three Corpses Brain God Pill and marked him with the Life and Death Talisman.
Whether these measures would truly work remained uncertain. At the very least, he thought, it was worth a try. Additionally, Li Xiaofei forced Barush to swear an unbreakable oath and recorded his curses and insults directed at the four evil gods of Subspace. He reckoned this evidence might prove even more effective than the pill.
Xiaofei had begun to sense that the creatures of Subspace existed in a highly stratified society that was even more rigid than Jiepeng.
“Now, tell me—how do we enter Subspace?” Li Xiaofei asked.
Barush, now restored to a more human-like size, had shrunk down to resemble a rotund, spherical figure.
“Master, to return to Subspace, we must head to the Temple,” Barush replied honestly.
“Good, then let’s go,” Xiaofei said, wasting not a moment more.
Moments later, the two arrived at the deserted Temple. They made their way to the central hall of the palace complex, where the main shrine stood. The eerie and malevolent giant statue of Terror was still as imposing and ominous as ever at its center.
Barush dared not make a single suspicious move under Li Xiaofei’s watchful gaze. He fiddled nervously within the shrine, adjusting the posture of the deity’s statue. Then, with a pained cry, he tore off one of his own arms, offering it as a sacrificial token.
