With a face full of confidence, Lizhizi picked up the coins and then he said solemnly, "The Difficult Beginning hexagram signifies difficulty in forging ahead. From the hexagram, the upper trigram is Kan, which stands for water, while the lower trigram is Zhen, representing thunder. Kan symbolizes hardships and dangers; the lower trigram Zhen signifies the desire to advance being blocked by the Kan, necessitating one to move forward through difficulties and risks. But aren’t your actions about fighting the enemy? What battle is ever without its hardships?"

Spirited, Lizhizi said, "Difficult Beginning, where the soft and the firm begin to interact and difficulties arise, is active amidst dangers, yet great fortune remains steadfast. The movement of thunder and rain is filling; it creates an obscure world, suitable for establishing one’s achievements and not for seeking peace and quiet.
What does this mean? It means the Difficult Beginning hexagram is the scene at the beginning of yin and yang when everything is difficult to start. Seeking to change amidst myriad dangers, though tough, it is the right path to great fortune. It’s just like thunderstorms bringing forth new life, apt for establishing endeavors rather than enjoying peace.
