If there was one flaw to point out about Ashraf, it would be that his rate of fire was too slow.
Ashraf’s firing rate was definitely limited by his rifle. Gao Yuan and the others had brought many guns, none of which were world-renowned, but all of them were certainly better than Ashraf’s Mosin-Nagant. Moreover, at Kandahar Air Base, Ashraf could pick from world-famous firearms at his leisure.
But these were all moot points because Ashraf would never switch guns.
Now Gao Yuan just wished Ashraf would use a Dragunov sniper rifle instead, with at least ten rounds, and without the need to pull the bolt after every shot.
With a bang, Ashraf killed a man, then he worked the bolt and fired again. By the time he did, those others had managed to run at least ten more meters.
Ashraf fired shot after shot, slowly and methodically, without rushing. By now, Gao Yuan had realized why Ashraf didn’t shoot directly; he wanted to wait for these men to lose their will to resist and start running for their lives before he methodically took them down one by one.
However, Gao Yuan felt that although Ashraf’s firing rate was slow, his accuracy definitely compensated for it.
Ashraf was less than two hundred meters away from his nearest enemy, which was quite close. His optimal firing range was within four hundred meters, preferably under three hundred and fifty meters. And the way things looked now, it seemed unlikely that the enemies could escape in time.
Ashraf fired five shots and hit four people, then he stopped to open the bolt and load the bullets, after which he continued to fire in rapid succession.
The first two shots hit their targets with a single shot each. As for the last enemy, Ashraf fired twice and missed both times because the enemy was too far away, and was running fast at tricky angles. However, just when Gao Yuan thought it might be time to use a grenade, Ashraf switched from a kneeling to a standing position.
