Pakistan had sent about two hundred people and a total of sixteen vehicles to escort Gao Yuan and his team. They were to handle any danger, any danger at all, so Gao Yuan and his team didn’t have to lift a finger.
The convoy first arrived in Altabad, where they replenished their supplies. Continuing onwards would take them to the most densely populated regions of Pakistan. Previously, densely populated areas also meant a large number of zombies, so the convoy did not travel along the prosperous Indus River basin but instead turned west, entering the semi-desert regions of western Pakistan.
Battles occurred along the way, mainly against the threat of zombies. However, when the military escort reached a certain size, the threat of sporadic zombies could essentially be ignored.
They had been traveling for an entire month. In Gilgit, it was still the early spring, since the high altitude and continuous mountain ranges kept it cool. Now, after only a month, due to changes in the terrain, the season had shifted from early spring to early summer.
The next stop was Quetta.
If possible, Gao Yuan and his team would have preferred not to pass through any cities, but the issue was that all road networks were built around major cities. Yet, the situation was somewhat different.
Iborg City is Pakistan’s largest city, and the surrounding road network is dense and well developed. The convoy could completely avoid the city by choosing the route furthest from it. Quetta, on the other hand, is different. It’s a city in the semi-desertified region of western Pakistan, with only a few sparse roads.
After enjoying the quiet roads of the desertified region, they had to face the difficulty of having to pass through city nodes, and Quetta was one such unavoidable node. But once they got through Quetta, they would be on a clear stretch that was at least hundreds of kilometers long.
Gao Yuan sat in the vehicle, dozing off, while Xinghe leaned on his shoulder, sleeping soundly, her drool wetting his shoulder.
