With one more disturbing cry to announce their descent, the flying figures came into full view, revealing their extremely violent features as well as the level of threat they would pose.

’Dragons...’

The one that had been crying since earlier was actually a Black Abyssal Dragon that looked just like the one Leo had faced earlier on.

’Six Dragons.’

Naturally, that wasn’t all. After all, how would a threat that each Trial Participant had dealt with on their own qualify for the final testament of their abilities as guardians?

There was one more Black Dragon, two Golden Dragons, as well as two earthy Brown Dragons.

’So the final challenge is indeed based on the number of participants.’

In the City of Villains, the final wave might have only briefly mentioned the details of the Trial of Defense.

However, in an effort to reiterate the suffering that Aurora had to go through, the main component of the final wave had been blatantly mentioned.

In her extremely tattered state, she had to force her way through two whole Dragons to complete the Trial of Defense!

’Thankfully, I had such an expectation in mind.’

Looking at the six ferocious Dragons making their way towards the frontline, Leo calmed his senses with preparatory confidence.

If he had actually thought that two Dragons were all that he had to face, then he wouldn’t have spent so much time and brain power to work out the best possible way to save Enigma!

’Why does he look so pissed though...?’

Groarrrrr!

With the Dragons having quite a long distance to cover to reach the frontlines, it gave Leo the chance to fully observe any notable changes, but in the end, the one thing that stood out to him was that the Abyssal Dragon in the lead seemed to be extremely furious!

Still, with the speed of the Dragon’s flight, that was the only initial conclusion that Leo could come to; the irritated Black Dragon was already right in front of his face.

"Brace for the impact! Full defense!"

Naturally, Leo had no intention of standing at the front only to receive the full brunt of the Dragons’ charge; the one that had to hold that ground was Kara!

"Roger!"

Without having to use her Enigma as sparingly as before, the Drain she felt from the get-go didn’t sting that much. However...

"M-"

’Master!’

Sensing only five points of impacts

Seeing that the leading Black Dragon had actually lunged onto Leo and sensing only five points of impact on her end, Kara barely managed to stop herself from exposing herself in worry.

’For real?’

Leo was just as surprised, but his reaction was far more collected. He simply melted into the ground before appearing a great distance away.

’Is this also a sense of realism? Or just a bug?’

Was this meant to simulate the fact that the strongest obstacle would inevitably become a target?

’A little arrogant, I guess.’

With Aurora’s limitless light in place, Leo didn’t dare claim to be the strongest, but he still believed that he possessed the most functional strength out of all three.

However, as plausible as this reason was, Leo didn’t think it was enough. The Abyssal Dragon was too focused on him that it felt personal.

’Don’t tell me that guy’s resentment was so strong that it snuck into his copy...’

Before Leo could think to ascertain his doubts, the Abyssal Dragon lunged at him once again, causing him to retreat once more.

’Either way, it looks like I will have to deal with this if I want to do anything else.’

"Do you-"

"It’s okay, Aurora. Take care of the rest; this won’t take long."

Seeing the eager look on Aurora’s face, Leo quickly interrupted her before she could make any suggestions of help.

Kara’s barrier was meant to last long, but five Dragons’ attack was too much.

Since the sixth one didn’t want to participate in this attempt at wanton destruction, there was no need to spare him any additional effort!

"...Whatever."

Feeling somewhat annoyed for getting her help denied before she even suggested it, Aurora turned around in protest.

Even then, a strong urge to throw a tantrum remained vibrant in her head for some reason.

Thankfully, however, Aurora had enough control to redirect her urges, jumping from under one of the Golden Dragons and giving him her strongest punch to the neck!

Not stopping at having just one Golden Dragon drop from the barrier assault line-up, the leftover light around Aurora’s fist reformed into a long whip, which she used to wildly let out her emotions on every spot of his body that she could reach.

’Much better.’

Even with two Golden Dragons now turning to face her, Aurora only let out a sigh of relief for calming her emotions.

’I can go all out, right?’

Having received the same message announcing the start of the final wave, Aurora didn’t need someone to tell her that she could finally stop holding back; she had already started doing so!

Spraghh!

In an instant, blinding brilliance covered the battlefield as two light maelstroms exploded on the faces of the two Golden Dragons.

Since holding back was a thing of the past, there was no need for build-up, only head-on thrashing!

Spraghh! Spraghh! Spraghh!

One maelstrom after the other came crashing, making it hard for anyone to see what was going on, but the light had no effect on Aurora’s eyes; she could see it all and...

’Yes, yes, yes, just like that!’

She was having the time of her life!

Her Enigma levels might be slipping down a very slippery slope, but she didn’t care!

As long as she didn’t hit the level where she couldn’t guarantee protecting herself, Aurora had no intention of stopping!

’Crazy...’

Even though he himself was experiencing what it was like to be chased by a rabid dog, Leo still got the chills from Aurora’s maelstrom spam.

Perhaps it was time he rethought the limits of his ’bullying’ when it came to dealing with a protagonist like this...
