Cultivation Struggles of a Lowly Fox

Chapter 815 – Roasted Snack

The lake erupted like someone set some kind of explosive inside.

Aiko was momentarily startled, since she was not healed yet, but...

"A Kraken?" Aiko titled her head. The system didn't provide enough information about it which upset her slightly. She didn't know much about it, just that-

"I wonder if we can get a roasted octopus." Aiko nodded her head seriously. It looked quite big, so the amount of meat should be proportional, right?

The Spirit Slime heard that, but it was kind of hard to wrestle with that kind of monster, so it couldn't promise anything. However, it would do everything in its power to keep the body as intact as it was possible.

The little Spirit Slime liked to lie around Aiko, since she liked to squish it with her bosom. Moreover, she was also kind and cute, making the Spirit Slime like its new owner.

"Will you be fine?" Aiko wanted to sleep a bit more and since the caravan was concealed, she was not concerned about being found.

The Spirit Slime gave the a-okay sign before the large blob wrestled the monsters below the water again.

"Awwww..." Aiko patted the Spirit Slime. She didn't expect this little guy to be so attentive, trying to drag the monster below the surface of the water to silence the cries of the battle. 'I will be able to rest sweetly like this.' She nodded her head gently.

Aiko went over to her caravan and picked some snacks that she could eat. Most of the food was preserved, since the other pieces were either already spoiled or Aiko already ate them.

The preserved food were delicious pieces of chewy jerkies and other preserved food. She liked munching on them here and there and her Spirit Slime also liked to have a small piece.

However, it didn't like spices, since its gently light-blue tint would quickly turn to all kinds of shades of red.

This both startled and amused Aiko. She wondered why this happened and what was the reaction behind it. Could this guy have different reactions to sugar and salt too? But with salt it didn't change much since jerkies were full of it.

And sweets...

'I didn't bring any.' Aiko kind of regretted it, since she wanted to see the little Spirit Slimes reaction...

-----

Underwater, the battle continued. The Spirit Slime was pretty much unrivalled in this stage and state. It was completely merged with the water, so not only was it extremely hard to hit, but it also could control part of the water, making the supposed Kraken be completely helpless against it.

However, the ink that the Kraken could dish out did trouble the Spirit Slime, since it could stun it thanks to it.

That, however, doesn't mean the Kraken could deal any damage even if the Spirit Slime was stunned.

The Spirit Slime was coiled around the Kraken and the only bothersome thing was its suction cups which could render the Spirit Slime temporarily hopeless.

It was kind of hard to shape its body to avoid the suction, since this guy had too many of them.

However, as long as the Spirit Slime could release the suction pressure, it was easy to escape.

It could melt the rim of the suction cups with its digestive juices, but that would also make the Spirit Slime smaller, which was counterproductive. It had to carefully make a hole in the middle of its body, where the middle of the suction cup was attached to it.

Thanks to that, the pressure vanished instantly, and the Spirit Slime was able to escape it.

The Kraken was clearly bothered, but it had no way to escape this place. It accidentally swam into this place through a secret passage, but because it got greedy, it consumed some of the shiny marbles at the bottom of this place and thus grew in size.

It could no longer escape this place, since its mouth was now bigger than the entrance that got it here.

The Spirit Slime tried to pin down the Kraken with its tendrils, but the octopus had too many suction cups, so the Spirit Slime was almost always caught like that.

It was a bothersome fight, easy to obliterate, but hard to keep in one piece.

The Spirit Slime changed a strategy. If the Kraken could eat it, then it would just melt its insides from within.

This way, its new owner didn't need to butcher it and could consume it almost immediately!

However, as if the Kraken knew, it never tried to eat the slime that was in front of it.

This upset the Spirit Slime and the whole thing turned into a nasty stalemate where neither side could win this thing.

Well, the Spirit Slime could win, but it would ruin the carcass, so...

-----

Aiko slept peacefully, hugging the Spirit Slime with her bosom. It was a nice and cool sensation, which made her sleep like a brick, while the Spirit Slime was trying to focus on the long distance fight.

Aiko would squirm and roll. She would roll around and stretch the little slime, making focusing a bit difficult.

However, the Spirit Slime didn't give up as it nestled in between her bosom, making a secure and tactical base there.

With that sorted, it was able to focus on the battle.

-----

The Spirit Slime wrapped around one of its tentacles while also avoiding the other tentacles with suction cups.

The Spirit Slime was lucky because it weaselled its way between the suction cups, making the Kraken struggle when it tried to get rid of it.

The Spirit Slime was surprised that this worked, since the Kraken couldn't use its suction cups to the full capacity. Moreover, thanks to the tight squeeze, it was able to restrain one of the tentacles completely, not allowing it to move.

The fight continued like this until the Kraken tired out completely and gave up fighting.

The Spirit Slime quickly slurped the Kraken's brain so that it wouldn't damage the body any further before trying to drag it above the water.

However, it was too weak, so it decided to eat some of those marbles to not only heal, but also possibly evolve.

The Spirit Slime didn't have a solid core, rather a core that could traverse freely through its body and which also shared the same physical immunity. You would have to use magic in order to damage a Spirit Slime.

The Spirit Slime healed its injuries before finally being able to drag the carcass above the water level and to the shore...

-----

Aiko stirred awake as something cool kept touching her face.

"What is it?" Aiko rubbed her eyes lazily. She had a nightgown for a nice rest, so her perfect silhouette was on full display.

*Sniff Sniff*

"Hm?" Aiko really believed that this place didn't have many senses, yet she could still smell a delicious and wonderful meal that was being cooked outside!

Aiko stuck out her head to see what was happening.

The other body of the Spirit Slime was currently trying to cook the Kraken, but there were a few issues.

It didn't want to wake up its owner and at the same time didn't want to use her tools. It tried to use the acid to melt it into parts and then roast it.

However, that was impossible to use as the whole thing would become toxic and not safe for consumption.

It could only eat the middle parts and roast the rest, that way nothing would get toxic, but there would be a lot of waste.

Aiko was surprised by this sight and was curious what drove the cute little slime to do this. She didn't understand its thought process, but that was probably for the better.

Aiko stepped outside, since it seemed like it was safe around here.

The meat was roasted, but there was actually no smell. It seemed like Aiko imagined all of that due to how hungry she was.

"Right, I should speed things up to leave this place and eat a hearty meal." Aiko nodded her head seriously. It didn't seem like time flew inside this place, which could possibly mean the same for the outside.

[You are correct, Princess. The owner of this place amassed quite the riches, but didn't want to share them with us, so we merely used the same fuel that he used to freeze the time inside this place as we slowly took over it.]

[The reason you were tasked to kill monsters was about empowering yourself and chipping on their defences. However, this Wave didn't go as planned.]

'Hey! I can't help it, alright?' Aiko liked to lay down in that bed, and she also wanted to see if the number of villages would keep increasing. This was definitely not her fault!

[However, due to that, you allowed all those defences to come into one Wave, so this is the last Wave before we can take over this place and ensure that your Soul-based Abilities develop safely.]

"What can I even use them for?" Aiko rolled her eyes.

[For example, you can be immune to certain curses and if it develops into much bigger size, then a complete immunity is not out of the question.]

"Whoa..." Aiko nodded her head as the Spirit Slime gave her a huge chunk of the tentacle tip that was roasted to perfection and dripping some juices.

Aiko bit into it. She expected it to taste bland, since this was not like the inside of her safe area, but she was wrong.

It actually tasted really good, which startled Aiko a lot.

'So if it's something unique or powerful it will have a taste?' Aiko's eyes smiled mischievously. Since the time was frozen, why not eat some delicacies~!

"Maybe later." Aiko was satisfied with this octopus- Kraken. It was soft, tender and delicious, only lacking more spices for a more diverse taste, but...

'The Spirit Slime will definitely not allow spices.' Aiko shook her head. The Spirit Slime hated spices, so she would have to be careful about what she would feed it.

'How would it react to the bubbly water?' Aiko narrowed her eyes. She was thinking of so many things she could try and test, but those would all have to wait for the time being.

'First, how do I clear the villages efficiently.' Aiko pondered on this. The Spirit Slime would be able to collect all those marbles that were dropped by the monsters, but did that mean Aiko would have to do all the battles alone?

That is also unlikely, since the Spirit Slime could split itself into multiple parts.

The main part would definitely not fight, since that part was the most important, but what about other parts?

It should be possible for every, but one part, to fight. Even if those died, as long as the main part was safe, everything about the Spirit Slime would be safe!
