Chapter 20 Rookie Member
Seeing the look on Zane’s face, Shelby couldn’t help but laugh.
"What?" he said, nudging him with an elbow. "I know, I know—she’s got that forbidden-fruit kind of beauty. You see a lot of those in dungeons. But quit drooling, boy."
Zane blinked. "I’m not drooling. I was just... surprised. A real Gorgon species? And don’t call me ’boy’ again."
Shelby grinned wider. "You mean Medusa-type Gorgon? Nah, not quite. Close, but not the same breed." His voice turned colder. "Anyway, enough talk. I’m putting that light out. One thing you need to remember, boy-man—if it lives inside a dungeon, it’s an enemy of mankind."
With a sizzling crack, Shelby vanished in a burst of lightning, the air splitting with the sound of raw power. Sparks danced across the ground in his wake.
Zane exhaled, a bit annoyed but more intrigued.
He had hoped to observe the Gorgon—understand her abilities, see how she moved, how she spoke. Maybe even learn the limits of her petrification or the logic of her presence here. But deep down, he knew that wouldn’t happen.
Shelby didn’t wait.
And he was right.
Before Zane could even take a step forward, the Gorgon let out a shriek—sharp and ancient, like a cursed flute being snapped in half.
The very next second, a storm of white-hot lightning tore through the air, swallowing her whole.
