Chapter 249: It’s good to be back
For now, though, those plans would have to wait. There was a more pressing matter to attend to—opening a permanent portal to Nazarick.
Albedo was no doubt waiting for my return, likely pacing with an eager smile as she anticipated my arrival. Nazarick’s strength and resources were invaluable, and establishing a stable connection to my home base in this world was the next logical step.
That was why I was back on Mount Natagumo.
The mountain had once been infested with demons, but the Demon Slayer Corps had wiped them out during one of their missions. Now it stood empty, its eerie silence making it the perfect location for my task.
No wandering Demon Slayers or demons to interfere—just an isolated, desolate place where I could work in peace. Shalltear was with me, she stood by my side, her crimson eyes scanning the area for potential threats. Lupusregina and Yuki were back at the Butterfly Mansion, tending to other matters.
As I surveyed the clearing I’d chosen, Shalltear broke the silence. "Master, are you sure this is the right location? This place is too dirty to open a portal to Nazarick."
"It’s ideal," I replied, glancing at her with a smirk. "The remnants of demon energy in this place make it less conspicuous. If anyone stumbles upon the traces of the gate, they’ll assume it’s leftover demonic energy."
Shalltear nodded, her confidence in my decision unwavering. "Very well. I will remain on guard while you proceed."
Turning my attention back to the task, I closed my eyes and summoned my system interface. The translucent menu materialized before me, displaying the familiar options and resources available to me. This process required burning Karma Points—a resource I accumulated from defeating enemies, completing challenges, and fulfilling tasks.
