Chapter 993 - 998: No Opportunity Given
Yang Yi stepped out the door, refreshed and clear-headed. Today was the day he would truly pilot an aircraft, not be toyed with by Hegelhaus, but embark on a real flight.
The weather was fine, the extreme conditions during simulations were unlikely to happen, everything was perfect. Yet, there was a slight unease in Yang Yi’s heart.
It’s always different the first time.
Yang Yi strode into Hegelhaus’s office.
Hegelhaus still wore the same expression, but there was something a bit different about him today. Upon seeing Yang Yi, he kept a straight face and said woodenly, "I heard you put on quite the performance yesterday, taking down many people."
Yang Yi smiled and replied, "Yes, I’m quite skilled with my hands."
Hegelhaus didn’t respond and it wasn’t clear what he thought of Yang Yi’s actions. After a moment of silence, he grabbed the sunglasses on the desk and said in a deep voice, "Let’s go."
Hegelhaus could be described as the head flight instructor at the CIA training camp. The advantage of being personally trained by Hegelhaus was always having priority access to the aircraft. Of course, the downside was that Yang Yi faced much more pressure than the others.
Yang Yi got on the plane after Hegelhaus, and then everything proceeded in an orderly fashion.
Yang Yi had practiced takeoffs and landings on the simulator numerous times, but for his first real flight, Hegelhaus would take control for the takeoff. No matter how good Yang Yi was on the simulator, according to the rules, he couldn’t possibly handle the takeoff himself.
Hegelhaus got the plane off the ground and then said in a serious tone, "Now, the control is yours. Get used to the feeling of flying for a bit, then do as I say."
