Chapter 134 - 133 Not Alone
Yang Yi’s movements indeed quickened, and then it took him less than ten minutes to completely clean the chimney. As he was just stepping out, he saw his familiar Clint following an old man, who was slowly walking towards him.
The old man was walking very slowly because, having entered the chimney, he could no longer see anything. However, on the walk from the cell to the chimney, he was still able to look into the distance.
Therefore, the old man kept looking around, and Clint, following behind him, did not urge him to hurry.
The old man appeared to be in his seventies, slightly overweight but by no means fat, with an extremely pale face. He had lost his hair on top, leaving just a rim of hair around the head, creating what is referred to as a "monk’s balding pattern," which looked somewhat comical.
Right before entering the chimney, the old man finally averted his gaze from the distance and, looking at Yang Yi, who was standing to one side with his cleaning cart, said, "New here?"
Yang Yi looked uncertainly at Clint because, according to the rules, he was absolutely not allowed to talk to any prisoner. In fact, even the guards weren’t supposed to talk to the old man, but this rule seemed not to be strictly enforced.
Clint made a gesture, and then he smiled, "He’s an exception."
Yang Yi immediately said to the old man, "Yes, I’m new here."
"Good for newcomers, newcomers have a sense of novelty. What crime did you commit to get in here?"
In prison, it seemed that everyone’s first question was to ask others what crime they had committed.
