He did not want to only conquer the world but leave it better that how it is before and his name and the forces he created to not shame the world.
Certain things have its evolution and certain method sometimes have to wait for the era.
But he never thought because of his method and because of his insistence in certain things, Jayeux would judge him to not be the wise lord in his heart and run away in the middle of the night....just because he did not want to serve him.
