Chapter 119: News of Victory
As the morning sun rose over the vast expanse of the Great Steppe, Durka slowly awakened, relishing the soothing caress of the gentle breeze that permeated his tent.
After a few moments of peaceful contemplation, he mustered the strength to rise and make his way to the main tent.
Inside, the tribe’s people had gathered, looking up towards him. Even though he has been defeated and the tribe is under Aeryon, since Aeryon did not do anything to him, the people of the Duhai tribe still believes in him to solve their problem.
The current situation of the Duhai tribe is very unusual. For the other tribes that Aeryon had conquered, the people who fought is enslaved and people who did not were recruited.
As for the Elders they would be brought back to the Brolgadhr tribe to serve among the Council of Elders and would not be like the Elders of the Duhai tribe where they are left alone
Most of the people in the Duhai tribe is untouched. The only act where Aeryon exercise his authority is when he recruited the warriors of the Duhai tribe to fight against the Zlata tribe.
And even then, there is not much fight but more of a symbolic fight to surrender. Durka listen to the problem of his tribe mostly about dispute of grazing area, whose sheep get stolen , whose wife get kidnapped so on and so forth.
Even the people of the Duhai tribe seems to have let down their guard. If Aeryon wanted to kill then, he would have done it long ago.
It is clear that even though Aeryon had defeated Duhai tribe, he did not mean harm and for the Duhai tribe there is nothing better.
The blood of the Great Steppe flows in them and they did not fear a fight. But between dying and living, everyone who has survived such harsh environment would choose to live.
The people of the Brolgadhr tribe did not humiliate them, did not enslave them and did not harass them
