Dugu Qianye returned to the courtyard and heard the clanging and banging from the kitchen, making her believe for a moment that she had returned to the small courtyard in Qifeng City, where Mo Feng was cooking for her.
She went to the kitchen and saw a new stove, new kitchenware, and a person she had just met less than a day ago. Yet, on the table was steaming hot food that made half of her fatigue disappear.
"I thought you were bluffing about being able to cook," Dugu Qianye leaned on the doorway with her arms crossed.
Zi Xiao looked at the petite figure at the door. With the sunlight on her back, Dugu Qianye seemed to carry the hope of life. He ladled some porridge into a bowl and said, "I saw that everyone else had left for a while, so I guessed you’d be back soon. Come, try my cooking."
Dugu Qianye walked over, took up a spoon, and had a taste. It was quite good, and she quickly finished a bowl. She put down the spoon, looked at Zi Xiao who was sitting opposite her watching her eat, and asked, "What made you think of making breakfast? If you were hungry, there should have been food ready in the kitchen."
Zi Xiao took her bowl, served her another, and placed it in front of her, saying, "There was quite a commotion last night! Seeing how busy you all were, I figure no one in the kitchen would have cooked. Besides, I wanted to cook for you!"
Dugu Qianye’s mind drifted for a second before she lowered her head to continue eating the porridge, saying, "Not bad, the skill."
Zi Xiao picked up some vegetables with his chopsticks and added them to her bowl, asking, "Aren’t you worried that making such noise will bring trouble?"
"In the middle of the night, and at the Mo Residence, others can only speculate at most. No one knows besides the people from the Mo Residence and you," Dugu Qianye replied.
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell?" Zi Xiao asked, seemingly offhand.
