Chapter 1496 - 1418: Drenched Chicken
"I’ll drink this cup for her, is that alright?" Fu Rong looked at the official.
Since he had said that, how could the man have any reason to refuse? He immediately nodded, "Alright, alright, of course, it’s alright. The Chief is giving me face here."
"In that case, I’ll finish mine, and you can take your time."
Even though everyone had their own thoughts, no one would openly say them. After a couple more drinks, the atmosphere became lively.
Everyone started chatting like they’d known each other for ten or twenty years, talking about everything under the sun.
In the end, they all left happily.
Fu Rong had a driver, of course, so she didn’t need to drive herself.
As she was leaving, he grabbed her arm, "If you run into a situation like that again, you can come to me for help."
"Thanks," Ye Ranran said coldly.
"Do you really have to be like this?" He tightened his grip. "Does it make you happy to deliberately challenge me?"
"You don’t know how to face me, so I’m supposed to know how to face you? I think we both need to cool off for a bit." Ye Ranran shook off his hand.
She really didn’t like him constantly showing up in front of her these days.
"Forget it, get in the car. I’ll take you home."
From the tone of his voice, she could tell he wouldn’t accept any refusal. Ye Ranran obediently got in the car.
At the door of her house, she ran into Wen Li. Smelling the scent of alcohol on Ye Ranran, he was visibly shocked. "You were drinking?"
"No, it accidentally got on me."
"Oh, that’s good. Don’t drink for the next year, remember that." Wen Li reminded her.
"Got it, brother. There’s a funeral tomorrow; we need to get up early, so go rest soon."
After parting with Wen Li at her room door, Ye Ranran called Shen Yuzhe again to explain why she couldn’t go, and she apologized for letting him down.
"It’s really not a big deal. I’m just worried you won’t be able to make time anytime soon," he replied. So many people were watching her; it was probably hard for her to break free.
"After the funeral tomorrow, I’ll find a way to come see you," Ye Ranran said pensively.
She absolutely had to figure out a way to free herself tomorrow.
The more she interacted with Jun Mochan, the more she desperately wanted to remember. If she could recall everything, she probably wouldn’t like Fu Rong anymore, and then she wouldn’t have to feel so miserable now.
Early in the morning, the sky was overcast, as if it were about to pour.
From the crematorium to the cemetery was a bit of a journey. The whole way, Ye Ranran stayed by Fu Rong’s side.
Only during the final tribute did they separate. There were simply too many people, so she couldn’t follow Fu Rong up.
Just as she finished paying her respects, a torrential rain began pouring down, soaking her completely.
Standing by Fu Rong’s car, rainwater plastered her hair to her cheeks. She struggled to open her eyes. "I’m going home to change my clothes."
"I’ll drive you back," Fu Rong said, opening the car door.
"No need, I can go back on my own." Ye Ranran had already walked away.
Fu Rong was about to step out of the car when the driver cautiously spoke, "Young master, don’t we have matters to attend to later?"
Ah yes, there was a development project that required his input; he couldn’t leave.
He pulled his foot back into the car. "Let’s go."
Ye Ranran sat in her car, pulled out a towel, wiped off the rain and her hair, then drove toward Shen Yuzhe’s residence.
His place had been arranged by Jun Mochan, very similar to his home in Country Z, except this time it was a bit more remote, far from the city center.
Seeing the drenched Ye Ranran, Shen Yuzhe hurriedly grabbed a bath towel from the bathroom. "Here, dry off."
Ye Ranran didn’t move, her gaze was somewhat strange. "You’ve used this?"
