Chapter 1481 - 1404: Not Ready Yet
The woman watching her quietly wished she could become the phone in his hand.
Without a second thought, he dialed a number, but suddenly remembered there was a time difference. Just as he was about to hang up, it was too late—the call had already been answered.
Ye Ranran acted quickly; the phone had barely rung when she picked up: "Hello?"
"Ranran, it’s me." A calming voice came from the other end.
Ye Ranran’s drowsiness vanished instantly. She turned on the bedside lamp and glanced at the phone screen, where three dark characters faintly shimmered.
"What do you want?" Her voice was a little cold.
Having just claimed he was her husband, he then turned and left her behind. Anyone would feel upset about that.
"Are you mad? Something came up back home, and I had to come back to handle it for a while." He had a company, a country, and responsibilities—he couldn’t always stay abroad.
Besides, he had a child.
Additionally, the atmosphere there was too stifling; he needed a breather. Knowing she was with Fu Rong, it was hard for him to not take action.
If he got mad, he might as well blow the whole city up.
In his heart, he told himself to hold on just a little longer. Once all her viruses were cleared, he’d take her back, by any means necessary.
"You... you said before that I’m your wife. What proof do you have?" Ye Ranran bit her lip as she asked.
"Does a marriage certificate count? What about wedding photos?" Jun Mochan said as he walked out of the airport and got into a car.
"Yes, can I have a look?"
"Sure, but you’ll need to wait a bit—I just got off the plane." Jun Mochan rubbed his forehead.
After a dozen hours on a flight, he was undeniably exhausted.
"Alright."
After that, neither of them spoke again. The silence stretched from this side of the ocean to the other.
"You..."
"I..."
Both spoke at the same time.
"Go ahead."
"Can you tell me about our past? I can’t seem to remember anything now." She tapped gently on her head.
"I fell in love with you at first sight, spent some time pursuing you, and then we got married. Later, you were kidnapped by my political enemy, took a bullet for me, rescued by Fu Rong, and became Wen Cai."
He glossed over the sorrow and chose only the happiest starting points.
Ye Ranran touched her heart—of course, there was a gunshot scar there. She thought to herself, she really did share a kind of fate with Wen Cai. Not only did they look alike, but they both had also taken a bullet for someone.
But Ye Ranran didn’t know that, aside from her unhappy love life, Wen Cai had everything going her way, while she herself had everything going wrong except for love.
"I’m just back for a little while. Once the agreed time comes, I’ll pick you up myself. During this time, we’ll stay in touch by phone." He deliberately avoided saying they’d only contact each other if something came up.
Because whether there was something or nothing, he would still contact her.
"By the way, our son is three years old now. I’ll let you meet him tomorrow—he really misses you." Mentioning the baby, Jun Mochan felt a bit of a headache.
Without bringing her back, the child surely wouldn’t be happy.
Having a son—this realization left Ye Ranran a little shaken. Not only had she suddenly gained a husband, but now she also suddenly had a child.
It felt as if she’d won the lottery overnight, soared straight to the peak of life.
After all, she had previously been a leftover woman.
She had always thought she didn’t have a man—turns out she’d already had a child!
If this was true, then what kind of ridiculous joke had she been living all along?
She reached out and covered her face: "Can we wait a while?"
She wasn’t ready yet.
