Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement

Chapter 387 - 383: Sympathy for the Same Illness (Part 1)

"Let me do it." He reached out to take her luggage.

"No, no, you’re the patient; how could I dare to ask you to carry it?" Sophie stopped him and continued to drag the two large suitcases outside.

"I’m the patient, you’re the pregnant one; we’re both in the same boat, so there’s no need to be so clear-cut, right?" Seeing her small body struggling with the huge suitcases, he felt a pang of guilt.

He ignored her protests and directly took the suitcase from her hands.

Sophie regretted it somewhat. Why did she pretend to be strong? Now, not only did she fail to make things easier for Asher, she became a burden to him.

She went to the garage to get the car, opened the trunk, and with Asher’s help, loaded the luggage inside.

Asher just about to open the car door, but she beat him to it, opening the passenger side door.

"Sophie, what’s up with you today? Although, I do like seeing you like this, but somehow it seems off, doesn’t it?"

"What’s unusual? Is it normal for me to act indifferent toward you, to quarrel with you every few days?" She retorted, leaving him speechless.

Sophie shut the car door and got into the driver’s seat.

Asher had never imagined he would have this kind of interaction with her; it was simply unexpected.

He turned his head, his gaze lingering on her face, while Sophie was so focused on driving that she was unaware he was watching. His gaze drifted downwards, finally resting on her flat belly.

It harbored a new life.

Like her, he was eagerly anticipating the arrival of the child.

...

When they returned to the Land Family home, Nanny Garcia had already assembled the servants there to welcome them.

"Master, Miss Smith, dinner is ready." Nanny Garcia stepped forward, saying respectfully.

Sophie felt something was off about Nanny Garcia’s expression but couldn’t quite pinpoint it.

Asher walked ahead of her; once he was gone, she held onto Nanny Garcia.

"Nanny Garcia, what’s wrong? You don’t seem very happy." Sophie asked.

"Happy? Miss Smith, after seeing Master injured, how could I possibly be happy?" Nanny Garcia’s tone turned strained. She had already got the details from Robert Williams about Asher’s injury. She never expected her master to take such a huge risk for a woman; she truly didn’t want to see this happening.

"Nanny Garcia, it was my fault in this matter, I’m sorry." Sophie knew Nanny Garcia had always been loyal to Asher, and after this incident, she was sure to harbor some grievances against her.

"Miss Smith, if you truly love Master, I beg you not to do things that will hurt him, okay?"

Never mind stealing corporate secrets from Golden Era Consortium, now even having her father stab him?

Even though Nanny Garcia once had limitless goodwill towards Sophie, she knew that as long as Sophie stayed with Master, the harm her master would endure would be far more than just this.

Sophie lowered her head but felt powerless to refute.

"What are you standing there for?" Asher had walked a distance but noticed Sophie hadn’t caught up, so he urged.

Sophie glanced at Nanny Garcia as Nanny Garcia turned her head away from her.

Feeling rather helpless, Sophie had to walk over to Asher’s side.

Asher naturally put an arm around her waist and headed towards the hall.

Nanny Garcia watched their retreating backs, letting out a deep sigh.
