Chapter 381 - 377: Can Only Choose One (1)
Sophie Smith hung up the phone and drove straight to the Golden Era Consortium.
On the way to the Golden Era Consortium, she kept calling Asher Land, but even though the phone rang continuously, no one answered on the other end.
Similarly, Christopher Smith’s phone was the same.
What exactly do the two of them want to do? Do they have to make her suffer and unable to decide?
...
"Miss Smith, you’re here." Robert Williams, standing at the entrance of the company, immediately noticed Sophie Smith rushing over. It was the first time Sophie saw the usually calm Robert with such a panicked expression, which made her even more uncertain.
Robert called Sophie because he had no other choice. Christopher Smith kept causing trouble, and even though Asher Land wanted to settle things peacefully for Sophie’s sake, Christopher was relentless, even wielding a knife to threaten Asher. For anyone else, Asher wouldn’t care, as some people’s lives meant nothing to him. But Christopher was different, after all, he was Sophie’s father.
Robert led Sophie into Asher Land’s private elevator. Watching the rising numbers, Sophie’s heart was in her throat.
A crowd gathered at the entrance of the CEO’s office, including security, company employees, and some executives. However, none dared to enter.
Everyone was talking among themselves, but when they saw Sophie arriving, their eyes focused on her.
She didn’t hesitate and forcefully pushed the office door open.
The two people inside turned their gaze toward her upon hearing the noise.
In her first glance, Sophie noticed the slight smile on Asher Land’s lips and the pale, furious face of Christopher Smith.
They were locked in confrontation about ten meters away from her.
"Little Sophie, don’t come over!" Christopher shouted, holding a sharp and pointed fruit knife.
"Dad, what, what are you trying to do?" Sophie covered her mouth, clearly not having expected Christopher to take such a drastic action, "You must put the knife down!"
"I want an answer from you today, are you going to leave him or not?" Christopher’s illness made him appear hunched, and despite wearing a loose and thick down jacket, it was evident he was weak and frail. How could he pose any threat standing in front of Asher Land like this?
Sophie’s eyes reddened. She looked up at Asher, biting her lip, unable to speak, looking very pitiful.
Asher Land’s heart wrenched, feeling a deep pain.
"Between him and me, you can only choose one. But let me make it clear here, if you choose him today, I will die right in front of you." Christopher was determined, as he didn’t have much time left, but he didn’t want his daughter to be with a man who could never give her happiness.
"Dad..." Sophie’s tears fell like raindrops, "I beg you, don’t do this, okay?"
"Little Sophie, if you still consider me your father, then listen to me this last time."
"You’re only a few months away from dying, why add unnecessary pain to your daughter’s life; does it make sense?" Asher Land, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke coldly, his face expressionless.
"You!..." Christopher was evidently angered, his entire body trembling.
"Let me make this clear to you now, I don’t know where you get the nerve to threaten me, but let me tell you, Sophie is mine, whether you oppose or protest, it makes no difference to me."
"Asher Land, ..." She shook her head at him; now was really not the time to say such things.
