Chapter 333 - 329 I Want to Get Along Well with You (2)
The hospital lobby was crowded, so Sophie Smith didn’t stay inside to avoid attention.
She stepped outside, standing at the entrance of a coffee shop, waiting for Asher Land to pick her up.
Due to the cold weather, there were few people on the street. Standing in an inconspicuous corner, she appeared somewhat lonely.
Anxiously, she glanced at her watch, constantly stamping her feet in place, hoping to warm herself up.
She was bringing it on herself; actually, she could have just hailed a taxi home, but she insisted on calling Asher Land to pick her up—it was quite pretentious.
She frowned, secretly regretting in her heart, when suddenly two honks caught her attention.
A black sedan stopped in front of her, and as the window rolled down slowly, Oliver Johnson’s face appeared.
"Mr. Johnson?"
It’s so late, what’s he doing here?
"Just happened to pass by, I thought you might be at the hospital with your father. I wanted to check in on you, but then I saw you outside," Oliver Johnson casually explained to her.
"Oh..." Sophie wasn’t sure how to respond.
"Are you heading back?"
"Mm."
"Want me to give you a ride?"
"Well..." Sophie was a bit embarrassed, "Someone’s coming to pick me up, so no need to trouble you, Mr. Johnson."
"Is it him?"
She nodded.
"Are you sure he’s coming?" Oliver Johnson’s mouth curved into a slight smile, "Don’t get me wrong, I mean he’s a very busy man. If he can’t make it today, wouldn’t you be stranded? How about I wait here a little longer, just half an hour, and if he doesn’t show up, I’ll take you back."
"He will come." She looked down, but her tone was firm.
He said he’d come, so he definitely will.
"Well, don’t rush to send me away, let me wait with you for a while." Oliver Johnson insisted.
"Alright then." Sophie had no choice but to agree.
"Come wait in my car, it’s cold outside."
Sophie obediently got in the car and closed the door.
After waiting in the car for about forty to fifty minutes, Sophie’s phone finally rang, and she quickly picked up the call.
"I’m outside the coffee shop by the hospital building, oh, not inside the coffee shop, I’m waiting outside. You’ll see me when you get here."
After speaking, Sophie hung up.
"Mr. Johnson, he’s here. I’ll go over now; I don’t want him to look for me and not find me."
She spoke with a smile on her lips, certain that Asher Land held a special place in her heart.
"Mm, go ahead."
Sophie got out of Oliver Johnson’s car and stood properly at the coffee shop door, waiting for Asher Land to come over.
As Asher Land drove up, Oliver Johnson still hadn’t driven away. He parked his car right in front of Sophie, and Asher Land, irritated by the blocked path, honked twice.
Oliver Johnson opened his car door, got out, and walked over to Asher Land.
Asher Land appeared slightly surprised, but quickly regained his composure.
Sophie felt a bit anxious; what was Oliver Johnson trying to do now?
Asher Land also got out of his car, and the two shared a friendly handshake and greeted each other.
"I just happened to run into Miss Smith by the roadside and spent a little time with her. President Land, you wouldn’t misunderstand, would you?"
Sophie thought to herself, Oliver Johnson could have just left earlier, and Asher Land wouldn’t have been suspicious at all. By saying this now, he risked truly making Asher Land misunderstand.
