Chapter 331 - 327: Gentlemen’s Agreement (Part 4)
The car stopped at the hospital entrance, and Sophie Smith was about to get out when he stopped her.
The temperature outside was very low, mixed with a cold drizzle, and the cold wind howled past, making Sophie shiver.
The umbrella was on the back seat, and Asher Land got out of the car, took the umbrella, and then ran to the other side to open the door of the passenger seat.
Slightly surprised by his thoughtful gesture, there was a glimmer of surprise in Sophie Smith’s eyes, but she quickly came to her senses.
As soon as she got out of the car, Asher Land embraced her, wrapping her petite frame in his coat, afraid she might get a drop of rain or a gust of wind.
He held the umbrella and escorted her all the way to the hospital building.
"Keep your hat and mask on, don’t let anyone recognize you." After all, she was a public figure, coming and going in this noisy environment every day. If someone recognized her, there’d be no time to escape.
Sophie obediently put on her hat and mask, looking at Asher with a slightly pleading gaze, knowing precisely what she was thinking.
"I’m going to the office, won’t follow you. Call me when you get home tonight, and I’ll pick you up."
He handed her the umbrella and ran through the rain to the nearby open-air parking lot.
Watching his departing figure, Sophie suddenly felt a little moved in her heart.
She shook her head, trying not to overthink it.
She pressed the button for the elevator to the sixth floor. While waiting for it, a pregnant woman accompanied by her husband walked over.
From the look of her belly, she seemed about to deliver.
"Honey, I want to eat Roman Bakery’s dessert later." The pregnant woman looked quite young, and her tone had a girlish, coquettish air.
"Okay." The man said indulgently, holding her waist.
"I also want to eat sour and spicy fish hotpot."
"You want hotpot after dessert? Your taste is quite strange, isn’t it?"
"I just want to eat it. Aren’t you going to buy it for me?" She pouted, expressing her dissatisfaction.
"Buy, buy, buy! Nothing is greater than my wife." The man shook his head helplessly, but his smile only grew deeper.
"By the way, I’m two people now, so you have to buy enough for two."
"Oh no, you’ll become a little chubby after giving birth." The man exaggeratedly said.
"You..." The woman was annoyed by the term "little chubby," punching him playfully, though it didn’t hurt, while the man acted as if he were in great pain.
Sophie watched them, unsure why she felt envious, even fantasizing that one day she and someone could live such a simple and ordinary life.
Someone?
The image of Asher Land appeared in her mind without hesitation, almost as a natural reflex.
The young couple noticed Sophie staring at them and felt slightly embarrassed, speaking a little softer.
The elevator stopped on the sixth floor, and Sophie stepped out.
She walked into Christopher Smith’s hospital room, only to find that he wasn’t there.
She rushed to the nurse’s station, her voice a bit anxious.
"Nurse, where’s the patient in room 6-306?"
"6-306?" The nurse thought for a moment. "He went out."
"Where did he go?"
Sophie’s voice was almost uncontrollable. Christopher was a patient and unfamiliar with Eastern City. Where could he have gone?
"Look, behind you." The nurse pointed behind her.
Sophie turned around and saw Eva Miller supporting Christopher Smith as they came out of the elevator.
Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
