Chapter 251 - 250: Fate Just Right (1)
Sophie Smith softly lowered her eyelids, feeling completely at a loss for words in response to Irene Morton’s remarks.
"Sister Sophie, I’ll head down first." Seeing Sophie Smith lost in thought, Irene felt she had achieved her goal. All she wanted was to unsettle Sophie. If Sophie lost her footing, she’d naturally become less competitive.
What frustrated Irene was she couldn’t fathom Sophie Smith’s feelings for Asher Land.
Irene closed the door, and as Sophie listened to the receding sound of high heels, she finally breathed a sigh of relief from within.
Irene had spoken very clearly to her for the first time, making Sophie feel a sudden sense of gloom. She stood by the window, gazing into the distance, her thoughts drifting further away.
...
A large department store.
A young man in a navy blue suit meticulously inspected items on the shelves, followed by a group of people.
His presence sparked continuous murmurs of commentary.
"Is this our new president of Hush Sky Group? Wow, he truly exudes extraordinary charm."
"Haha, the single ladies in the group are in luck. I heard the president is still single."
"So young, wealthy, and handsome. Honestly, how many women will he torment?"
"..."
Oliver Johnson’s gaze remained fixed on the products on the shelves. He had just taken over Hush Sky Group, so he paid extra attention to every detail. This department store had yet to open officially, so a thorough inspection was necessary.
Service, product quality, everything required his personal approval.
"President Johnson, we found a new European vendor, but compared to the Italian one, they’re still not as strong financially or in capability," said his assistant, "But please believe, we’ve already done our utmost."
"Hmm." Oliver nodded, slightly curling his lips. For some inexplicable reason, the Italian vendor, who had always collaborated well with Hush Sky Group, turned to Golden Era Consortium. This significantly impacted Hush Sky, but given the strength of Golden Era Consortium, it was understandable that partners sought better collaborations.
Thinking about Golden Era Consortium, a charming figure suddenly flashed in his mind.
Sophie Smith.
He silently mouthed her name, and with his sharp business acumen, he sensed she had an unusually close relationship with Asher Land.
He just didn’t know if, after all this time, she still remained by Asher Land’s side.
Lost in thought, the product in his hand suddenly fell to the ground.
His assistant quickly picked it up and placed it back on the shelf.
"I have things to do, so I’ll leave now. With less than two days to the store opening, I hope you can help supervise things well," Oliver said as he walked out.
The sky was overcast, threatening to pour any moment. He suddenly had the urge to go somewhere.
About an hour later, his car finally stopped at the plaza of a high-rise building, which housed Sophie Smith’s agency.
He sat inside, motionless, as thunder roared and a torrential rainstorm began.
Huge raindrops pelted the car, blurring his vision. His stare was fixed on the exit of the company’s entrance. Many people came and went, but he didn’t see the figure he hoped to see.
Inside the company.
Sophie Smith felt a headache watching the downpour.
Her car was parked in the opposite lot. To get there, she’d have to cross the plaza at the company’s entrance. She searched for a while but couldn’t even find an umbrella. She thought she’d definitely get drenched.
