It’s another Friday, not much different from the usual. Sophie Smith usually has no appointments on this day, she can sleep until she wakes up naturally, no need to wear makeup, no rushing around, and she can leisurely have afternoon tea. At around seven in the morning, she felt Asher Land’s departure. Instinctively, she wanted to ask him to stay, but fortunately, the dizzy feeling didn’t last long.

Besides, she knew that Asher Land’s career was far more important than hers! How could he stay because of her simple plea?

"Miss Smith, you’re up, come down for breakfast," Nanny Garcia stood kindly at the top of the stairs. To her, Sophie Smith was like her own child, graceful and sensible, giving her a very affectionate feeling.

"Good morning, Nanny Garcia." Sophie Smith greeted and then sat down at the dining table. The table was so large that sitting alone seemed lonely and looked somewhat deserted.

"The young master was supposed to have breakfast with Miss Smith, but early this morning, Robert Williams came by saying there was an emergency at the company..." Robert Williams was Asher Land’s most capable assistant, usually always by Asher Land’s side, but he was taciturn, and Sophie Smith rarely talked to him.

Nanny Garcia seemed to still be explaining Asher Land’s reason for leaving early in the morning; she thought Sophie might not be accustomed to being here alone. Indeed, without Asher Land, she was somewhat unaccustomed, but she was not greedy enough to want him beside her all the time.

"Nanny Garcia, he has his work to do, I know." Sophie Smith smiled and interrupted, "You haven’t had breakfast, have you? Let’s eat together."

"No, no, Miss Smith, please eat." Nanny Garcia was a bit flattered, waving her hand repeatedly.

Sophie Smith shook her head helplessly. The Land Family’s maids were too well-trained to ever make any wayward gestures beyond courtesy.
