Chapter 2: I Saved You, Remember to Repay Me
"Do you want me to help you?" He asked gently, his rare show of mercy whispered softly in her ear in a voice only the two of them could hear.
Sophie Smith didn't react at first, purely because of his voice. His voice was too pleasant, full of magnetism, yet carried a sense of unfamiliarity that kept people at a distance.
"Mm!" A few seconds later, Sophie was jolted awake from her trance and nodded frantically. If someone were willing to help her at this moment, she would be profoundly grateful.
"Get over here, now!" Sam Chapman impatiently yelled, pulling her hand vigorously. Sitting in that corner was not an ordinary person. The big boss was here today to discuss script investment matters with him, and if this girl offended this major patron, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Are you yelling at me?" The man tasted a sip of red wine from his glass, speaking unhurriedly.
"No, no, of course not..." Sam panicked, his words stammering. Even with a billion times the courage, he wouldn't dare. "You, you misunderstood, I was talking to this girl."
"If not, then don't shout in my direction." His voice didn't show much fluctuation, just maintaining its usual coldness, which startled Sam and made him quickly release Sophie's wrist.
"Sorry, sorry..." After saying that, Sam rushed back to his seat, retreating in disgrace.
Sophie exhaled deeply in her heart. The man beside her must be someone extraordinary. A simple few words could make the arrogant Sam immediately lose his bravado. She steadied her emotions, trying to calm her mood.
"Tha..." Her 'thank you' words hadn't fully left her lips when she once again heard the man's cold voice.
"What's your name?"
"My name is Sophie Smith, 'Sophie' as in the color, 'Smith' as in promise." She said earnestly.
