I would like to earn more money, so I have been advised to advertise more aggressively. If you have 2$ to spare for me, I would highly appreciate it. In return, you will be able to download all of the art I commissioned for this and other works, alongside the more interesting matter of getting chapters early.

Onto the actual Author’s Note.

350k words again… alas, that’s just how long these get with all of the character interactions that I want to cover. Speaking in broad terms, this arc had 3 notable sub-sections. First we had the big grinding session, then we had the dealing with Awakened and then we had the wedding.

For the grinding session, its primary purpose was, quite obviously, to push the three dangling women into the harem. Lyndell was a foregone conclusion since her introduction. Fianna I had a bit of a ‘will they, won’t they’ mentally, which broke her way when I decided that it would make the most sense to have her become the White Tiger’s chosen. Moira just shimmied her way in there by being adorable.

The Raid in that segment, the Tournament of Prowess, is actually directly inspired by an event in a world simulation project I am running. The characters, gods and some of the items there are also from that simulation. The list of people I would like to thank for lending their creativity to that is too long to write it out, so I hope you appreciate this simple writing of gratitude.

Now, I have also read in the comments the baseless accusation that Daiyu might be the Black Turtle. Needless to say, this is completely ridiculous. As one who tries to foreshadow, I have placed no signs in this story at all!

Moving onto the Awakened, we have Esmeralda, Devos, and Yoshua when it comes to relevant plot lines. Esmeralda is obviously harem bait, though the question whether she will join or whether she will be here to make the point that John is finally growing more discerning is yet to be decided – though it heavily tilts towards the latter. I believe I can make that point while still letting her in, but I do understand that it would feel cheapened.

That is a side-show though.

Devos I have begun to plan around the start of the Lorylim War. As you might expect, I am setting up a bunch of new adversaries first, as we are in a new season and thus need a new set of them. Devos may or may not be one of them. After all, his ultimate goal is, as of yet, obscured.

As for Yoshua, I am not entirely certain if I did the best with him I could have. It is difficult to have someone like him on-screen enough to get his character across. Alas, I hope you feel somewhat for the poor lad. I shan’t say a lot on him for fear of accidentally spoilering things.

Oh, right, we also had the Tzitzimimeh… won’t say anything about that either.

Then we get to the wedding chapters, during which a bunch and very little happened. I don’t even have a lot to say on it, to be honest. It’s just a string of what I think were expected or needed interactions, with the little surprise of the double wedding at the end. The breeding chapter at the end of it all finally marks the change of this story to another chapter.

I have been impatiently waiting for the day that we get to the knocking up. For many years, quite literally, I have been contemplating circumventing the awaited time in one way or another, but emotional resonance and pacing were in unison on this one so I had to just muddle through everything else first.

And now we are finally there. Now I have no idea how exactly this will play out. I plan out my plot points, but I lack the patience and madness to try and actually map out the calendar more than a month or so in advance for in-story events. This season might end with Eliana’s third kid being born or it might end with her still in her pregnancy. No clue.

It will be interesting. Conveniently, the pregnancies serve as a way for me to pull back on John’s rather overpowered fighting force of loyal women. I trust that it is an uncontroversial take to keep expectant and new mothers away from the dangerous work that is combat.

It is rather difficult to write threatening action sequences when there’s 25+ people above most gods at beck and call. It has to come along with surprise or separation, both of which are hard to set up. I am mostly content to write action scenes that are only vaguely dangerous or to find ways to make something other than physical supremacy the victory condition. Still, it is nice to have that option enabled.

Also, you know, happy mother Eliana will be adorable.

Yeah, that’s about all I wanted to say, really. I will now take my customary 2 weeks break. In the meantime, I recommend you take a look at my other projects, of which there are several. You can find them all on my profile on NovelFire.

I will reiterate that I would appreciate it if you could add to my financial security in whatever little ways you can.

Also, if you can take the time, here’s the usual feedback form:

Hope to see you all next Arc! It is time to turn east… though not the far east. An ancient library and an inheritance await. Next Arc shall be called “Inked Sands”.

Until then!
