Chapter 1981 – Approaching the Late Game 28 – Loot and Summons

John lifted the lid on the pinewood chest with a degree of reverence. Even as tired as he was of everything to do with this encounter, the little loot goblin inside him still got excited. ‘I should make Delicia go goblin form and have her bounce on my dick for 2 hours. That will cure my shortstack aversion,’ he thought, as he reached into the black.

The Common Loot was immediate mockery. Three Bras of Holding! As if John would give ANY of his big-titted women a bra! Those sweater puppies deserved to bounce about unleashed! On a more serious note, they had actually no use for bras that added inventories when all of them already had their pocket dimensions or inventories.

Uncommon held the Kin Singer’s Fan and the Yukata of the Kin Singer, both of which had enchantments to boost the power of summons. John was willing to do much for Stats, but wearing a slutty yukata was not among them. The folding fan was worth a bit of consideration.

In the Rare Category, he got nothing, which was a bit unusual.

Epic handed him a Seed of the Harem Tree. As per the item description, it would blossom into a magnificent cherry tree that caused a permanent birthrate tilt in the area it occupied, causing the gender ratio to be close to 2 women to 1 man. John liked this because it was area constrained and, by the Attributes, put that thumb on the scale during conception.

He also got the Skillbook.

John contemplated this.

What were the pros to learning it? Well, he wouldn’t really know until he learned it. The expectation he could have, considering it was an Epic Raid drop, was that the Hero would pack a lot more of a punch than the Sprites did. Not as much as the ghosts had during the Raid, that much could not be expected, but enough that he would have a heavy hitter option to contrast the swarm tactics of the Sprites.

Further for this spoke that he had taken the Summoner Class as the follow-up to Elementalist. Sure, he was currently banking Class Levels for Breeder, but that would run its course eventually. Since the progression path he had wanted all the way back in Springfield of being a backline summoner and puppeteer was finally open to him again, he was likely to focus on it over any of the arcane classes. It would be Summoner and Monster Girl Creator, once he got the Class Levels again.

Having a great variety of summons would only help in that regard.

What were the cons to learning it? Simply said, what he held was an actual book, a book that would be destroyed if he used it. The contents would be uploaded into his brain and he could definitely type it back out in a day, so it wasn’t as if the information would be lost.

So, there weren’t a lot of cons and many nebulous pros.

John decided to click the button.

Just comparing this level 1 to the Sprite’s level 1, John could already see he was correct. The mana cost was about 15 times higher than the Sprite’s, the Stats 5 times and 2 times the Duration. That was about in line with John’s balance expectations.

‘Right, right,’ John thought. He checked the chest just in case there was a Legendary, before he checked out his Active Skills. He had kept Summon Sprite hidden on it so far to avoid it being full, but now that had passed. ‘Let’s start with the obvious ones. I don’t need all of the Elemental Summoning Skills displayed, they’re permanently maxed anyway. I’ll just keep Season Elemental as a stand-in. I can throw out Escape I.D., I only need Create I.D. to check out the options sometimes… Ambassador Double I know I have at all times, it’s more of a passive by this point… Third Eye I never use, it’s just not worth the 10,000 MP with my combat plan… but it is still levelling with Stat Synergies, so I’ll keep it there in case it gets useful.’

That was a lot cleaner.

‘It’s too bad both the Sprites and the Heroes aren’t in the Arcane school of magic,’ John thought. ‘It would be hilarious if I could use Arcane Ascension to create 5 times my maximum mana’s worth of Heroes in an instant. At max Skill Level, each cast should be 5000 MP for a Hero that has 50% of my Intellect as its Stats. Getting out… almost 46 of those in an instant would just be hilarious.’

He had to wonder if he could find an Arcane summoning spell.

‘Even if I did, it's arguable if I would really want 46 Heroes over any of my other attack spells. Arcane Ascension is one of my burst spell lifelines. That’s the theory realm. Let’s get back to reality.’ “I don’t know about all of you but-“

“No, we are all sick of this,” Nahoa interrupted him.

“For the love of math, take us out of here!” Claire begged. “I need a hard reset from these Raids.”

“Fantastic, we are all in agreement then.” John raised his hand and they left the Raid without even checking what the next trash mobs were going to be. There was no one to collect in the viewing area either. The fight had just been too dull to watch.

“Let’s try the new trick,” John said.

A light exertion of his will was all it took for the Skill to activate. The space in front of him shimmered prismatically, a telltale sign of Faith energy being present. It took a couple of seconds, but the Hero manifested all the same.

He had a ghostly form of blueish-silver, barely translucent enough to see through. His chest was bare, as were his legs. All that covered him were the loincloth, vambraces and tied sandals. All of those pieces of clothing had a stronger, brown colour, appearing almost manifest. The spear in his hand was similar, but retained the ghostly appearances in the way the red cloth, dangling from the base of the sharp, metal tip, dissolved into the air without ever becoming shorter.

The features of the man were handsome, his hair short, his eyes reflecting an awareness the Sprite’s certainly lacked. It registered in John that he COULD order the Hero to… stab a baby or something similarly over the top evil. The summon was a summon, even if the Skill assured him that the Heroes had a moral awareness.

If he lost the Skill, it would be after he had done something heinous.

Not that John planned to do something horrible. He had committed a few morally questionable acts in his day and given many more orders to that end. All of them had been in the name of some ultimately good outcome, though. A utilitarian argument, which was unlikely to put him in the category of a truly virtuous person. At the very least, he could claim he was a net benefit to humanity though.

Since the Skill had been allowed to be learned in the first place, Gaia still agreed with that assessment.

“You are dismissed,” John said to the Hero. He bowed his head, then disappeared in the same prismatic shimmer that had manifested him.

“Just took ya two and a half years to actually start being a summoner,” Rave teased.

“Between all my familiars, what would I have been before?” John asked.

The feline Lightbearer tilted her head, before coming to an answer. “A mana supply?”

“Thank you,” John drawled sarcastically.

“Love bird creatures, I finished the summary of what remains to be done,” Ehtra informed them.

John had expected the First of Hatred to plop down a comedically huge stack of papers. That was the part of his brain that had grown up on series that had been written by people before broadband internet. Ehtra simply presented him with the text file she had typed out on the laptop.

Ehtra really had a talent for structuring things. He was looking at a two-table document, the setting allowing both to be displayed on the screen at once. On the left were all of the items that they had finished, with a notes section for matters that might come up again in the future. On the right were all of the items that remained to be addressed.

Which, to John’s surprise, was just three entries long. All they had left to do was to coordinate with Maximillian on how he wanted to hold his best man speech, the procedure of the actual wedding ceremony, and the plan on how much and what alcohol they were going to serve.

On the first item, they were waiting for Max to get back to them. On the second item, John had been excluded because Rave wanted to surprise him with something. On the last item, they had been delaying because there was a genuine talk to be had there on what was responsible. Giving free access to liquor was potentially disastrous in the real world. Lowering the inhibitions of a concentration of proverbial and actual gods and demigods could end up with a barfight that exploded a neighbourhood.

“On the alcohol front, I think we can just open our Storage and leave it to the bartenders to judge?” John asked. “Delicia, you’ll be the bartender, right?”

“Me, Nahoa, and a support staff from the maid academy,” the goblin maid answered. His desire to get his appreciation for the short and stacked back had been heard through the mental connection. She was not bouncing on his dick yet, but a tit job by those huge mammaries was a close second.

“Yeah, I think you will be able to hold back anyone that becomes too rowdy,” John said.

“Psh, no? But if someone gets too uppity, I can spike their drink with a tranquilizer.”

“…That probably won’t work on most of them.”

“Don’t you underestimate my alchemy, Master.” Delicia grinned. “There’s some short-lived compounds that can integrate the brewer’s mana, so I can make this a bit of a power competition. It’ll work, provided they are drunk enough already.”

“I’ll trust you on that… which means…?” John’s voice slowed as the realization dawned on him.

“We’re done!” Rave declared.

“He is done,” Aclysia corrected. “You still have the ceremony to plan properly.”

“Yeah, but how much work is that for me, really?” Rave asked. “Not enough that I can’t kick it back a bit. We’ve got, like, seven more days in here.”

“Eight,” John corrected.

“Yeah, but one of them is Christmas Day, so does that really count?”

“Just because we’re spending it doing festive things doesn’t mean it’s not a day.”

Rave shrugged mirthfully, the relief of not having to deal with any more organizational stuff was plastered across her entire body language. “That’s the day after tomorrow. What’re the plans for tomorrow?”

“I’m going to actually just relax,” John said. “My goal is to go into the gaming room at 8:30 AM and only leave it for food and bathroom breaks for the 14 hours after that.”

“No orgy breaks?”

“Maybe some orgy breaks, but right now I conceptualize a true gaming day.” John was already imagining it, just throwing hour upon hour away, doing side quests in whatever RPG he decided to pick up. It would advance absolutely nothing in his life and that was the point. A full break like that was a rare luxury.

“Two more days until I get turned into goo,” Lyndell muttered into her coffee. She sipped the black brew slowly, producing a throaty hum as it hit her tastebuds. “Tomorrow will be full of gifts.”

“Well, we’re keeping the actual gift giving to the day after,” John said.

“Why?” Lyndell investigated.

“Just felt like it,” John responded. “We decided to keep Christmas Day for just being together and the orgy, then the day after we’ll do any and all gift giving.”

“I see.” Lyndell took another sip of her coffee. “This might be the only reason I need to keep living,” she stated. After a few seconds, she added. “That was a joke.”

“Ya gotta work on your inflections,” Rave pointed out.

“My dryness is part of my charm,” Lyndell answered.

‘There will be nothing dry about you when I start my work… Huh, that’s one of those lines.’ John kept that perversion to himself, he had a delicious goblin to prioritize. As he lifted Delicia from tit job to reverse cowgirl position, he felt a tap on his shoulder. Casually, he impaled the shortstack on his dick, then turned his head. Moira stood next to him, arms crossed, clothing once more on the revealing side. Was she even aware that she openly displayed her mood with the degree of skin she laid bare? John doubted it. She struck him as the kind of woman that got swept up by her emotions on these sorts of things, which was an adorable contrast to her battle discipline.

“I would like to spar your summons,” she requested. “When you have the time. You can level your Skills and I can practice fighting multiple weaker opponents.”

“That would be a good break from your current practice,” John agreed.

“Also… also…” Moira blushed and averted her gaze. “I, uhm… I… borrowed something from your sex toy collection… I meant to ask, but you weren’t around, so…”

“Plenty of toys there, nothing to be sorry about. Just make sure you put it in the cleaning box,” John assured her.

“Y-yeah and… c-can… can someone advise me on something else…?”

“Lee, someone needs advice on sex toys.”

“Why am I the- no, I didn’t ask that.”

John answered it anyway, “You’re the definitively most masturbation-addicted girl in this harem, which is an achievement.”

“I like solo time, okay?!” Lee cried out. “It’s almost as good as group time and group time is really, really good! Sue me!”

“Alright, as emperor I decree that bad girls that masturbate the entire day get put into the bondage cage for 15 minutes.”

“You don’t… like it when women masturbate the entire day?” Moira’s voice was too cautious for curiosity. “I thought you were a…”

“A pervert that wants his women to just experience bliss every second of the day?”

“Something like that, yes.”

“True and not true. I’m a dom, I like to be the source and controller of pleasure, it’s where I get my own satisfaction from.” His hands on Delicia’s waist guided the up and down of the tight cocksleeve. “I take delight in restraining pleasure and then rewarding submissives for their discipline.”

“Which I wish to experience already.” Lyndell’s impatient choice of words did not penetrate into her forlorn tone. “Turn me into goo. Make me melt. Put your hands all over me.”

“I can do that right now.”

“If you squeeze me right now and not fuck me, I might get a little agitated,” Lyndell threatened in monotone.

John made a mental note of the fact that Lyndell was the kind of woman to get progressively more angry as she got more sexually frustrated. He would keep her nice and satisfied in perpetuity after this. It was a husbandly duty that he was quite apt at.

“So, want to pick something out right now?” Lee asked.

“…Yeah…?” Moira’s answer sounded less than confident.
