Side Story: Death
*** Death ***
Alzi is spoiling me right now. I thought everything was going well when Geta managed to get pregnant and stay pregnant. That part was a worry. Sure, death elementals could get pregnant and give birth, but a Valkyrie. She's so much closer to death than the elemental could hope for. But Fertility is being nice. Now her servants are sending me some of Justice's silly priestesses.
I do worry about the ability to create more beings to die for me after this new bounty.
Nature brought a lot of women to my door. My second favorite type of soul. The monsters aren't very interesting. They don't do much when dead. Women are infinitely more interesting. Goddesses coming into my realm is dangerous. Too dangerous for me to get them consistently. Though I do treasure them.
I do wonder how a Demoness would behave in my halls. If only I could get Malrolloz without angering Alzi. Her children are fun, basically like getting a normal woman. She would have to be similar to a Goddess.
"Goddess, what are you wondering about?" an angel asks.
"The value of my collection has grown thanks to Alzi and the demoness massively. Makes me feel bad thinking about how I don't have a demoness in my collection since there is only one I could collect right now. Alzi has given me too much to take someone important to her."
"You are death, it is only natural that they come to you eventually," the angel says.
"Are you going to say I should die at some point? I am Death. Shouldn't Death feel the taste of death? I have to have limits or things will spiral," I say. "I ate well during war's stupid decree, but the drought that followed. Limits. Control. If Nature and Justice understood those, they would be alive right now. If Sex could see the bigger picture and cultivate a positive image of herself, the mortals wouldn't have kicked her out. I must keep that same view. I can't let Poison take more victims."
"Is she really the cause?" the angel asks.
"How many times have I told you yes?" I ask. "Of course, she is the cause. Who else could it be? They were power hungry before, but the stupidity came out when Poison let loose. The hunger."
'My Goddess, Alzi is missing.' Geta asks.
'She lives. I do not have her soul. I would tell you if I did have her. Just focus on finding her. I'm sure she'll be back soon from wherever Space put her.'
'Thank you.' Geta says.
Cheating. We're cheating a lot these days.
We know where Goddesses end up. But I do have to wonder where Goddesses come from. I didn't ascend. I wasn't born of another Goddess.
Where did Death come from?
