Side Story: Luck and Alzi
*** Alzi, Second Body ***
Time to thank Luck for all her help. I should probably do something for Destruction as well. I bet she had something to do with how fast the Queens died. But she also probably helped Yzzorres with her destruction. Can't expect her to go against her Affinity, which causes even more problems. Just have to work within it. And she's cute enough to get away with it all.
"Hello, Luck," I say. "Time for Mommy to show her appreciation. I love you. Thank you for helping even when you're so young. My babies are already able to help out in the world. Do you know what you want to do?" Destruction is easy to pamper. Just need to get Irlo here and find a space with plenty of things to destroy and play with. Maybe I can take those two around to Justice's temples and let them have some fun.
Luck is a bit harder. She isn't really big enough to play any of the normal luck-based games. She'll be a dangerous woman in the gambling houses. If they ever let her in. I'm sure they're going to have some rather large shrines to her in the future, hoping she blesses the owners instead of the patrons.
Luck points off towards Mai. Or maybe our kid?
"You want to play with Mai's tail?" I ask. I doubt it, but you never know. My kids may have good taste.
She shakes her head and keeps pointing. I'm sure she can talk. Really wants to be seen as a baby still. "Kid? Do you want to visit your sisters?" I ask. Well, talk about gambling, and here we go. I should ask the maids to place bets on which kid becomes a champion. My questions get her giggling, so I steel my nerves and start to take the trip around the nursery. "I don't know how you all choose who to make a Champion, but I hope you give all your sisters a fair chance."
I tease her a bit by taking her to Destruction first. She isn't very enthusiastic about that, but they crawl around together for a bit before Luck shows she's ready to begin her actual task.
"Just messing with you," I say. "I do hope you get along with your Goddess sisters. It's important to have help and people who can tell you when you're going astray. It would help a lot with the current Goddesses. Here we go. Tirlo to start."
I don't know how much time she's going to be spending with each kid. It's kind of hard for babies to play together. I'm always worried they'll hit their heads together if I let them crawl around too close. It probably wouldn't matter with how slow they move, but I worry about them. Can't help it.
But Luck makes it work. "You're counting on your cuteness to make me keep treating you like a baby," I say. "Ready for the next baby? Ok, let's make the trip."
...
Twenty kids. It took Luck twenty kids before she decided a baby needed to be extra lucky. One of Esiyae's kids. One that she birthed, that is. It was not as dramatic as when Irlo became a champion. Maybe less mana messing around or something.
"You picked a cute one," I say. "You do plan on seeing the rest of your sisters, right? Good." Luck is such a sweetie. I hope they're all like this.
