For one, he was familiar and dependable; for another, he had money, and she could return to her former lifestyle. Lu Jiaxin thought it was great. A wedding, unless the relationships were terribly strained, was a regretful affair if parents were absent.
Zong Shimeng asked, "Your daddy and mommy said they were starting fresh when they moved—how are they doing over there now?"
Yu Meitong shook her head and said, "I was there for three days and rushed, so I didn’t ask much. But knowing my brothers’ personalities, they might succeed in running a business, but making it big would be tough."
In Hong Kong, the two of them were at odds, but with their dad overseeing, things were stable. Now that the assets are divided, they’ll have to rely entirely on themselves. Of course, Yu Meitong hoped they would earn well so her parents could live comfortably.
Zong Shimeng proactively spoke about her family: "My dad is preparing to split up the family business. My elder brother will inherit the company; my second brother will get some money to start something new. He even came to me recently, hoping I’d invest."
