Chapter 2411 - 670: Edith’s Apology, Cooperation_7
Hepburn Jess looked up and saw, amid the crowd, a tall woman in a red dress glaring furiously at the man lying on the ground. The man’s face was pale as he clutched his abdomen, clearly injured in a critical area.
"Oh my God! What happened here?!" Emory, the host, hastily pushed through the crowd and gasped upon seeing the scene before him, "Dear Newt, what on earth happened? How’s your... condition?"
Lying on the ground, Newt Durant couldn’t be bothered to respond to Emory. The intense pain in his lower body made every breath feel worse than death.
Emory, frustrated, tugged at his hair and turned to the woman in the red dress, "Beautiful lady, can you explain the situation to me?"
The tall woman suddenly teared up, crying softly. She was already beautiful, and her current appearance made her look even more delicate and captivating.
"Just now, this man suddenly came over, wanting to befriend me. I didn’t want to engage with him, but who knew he would block and grope me. In a panic, I kicked him." The woman weepily explained.
Everyone understood; it was because Newt Durant found the lady attractive and got lustful!
Everyone present knew what kind of person Newt Durant was. He was the eldest nephew of the Durant family head, known for being a playboy who loved having fun. The number of women he had played with was countless; some volunteered, others were forced. But even if they were forced, what could be done? The Durant family was not one to be trifled with!
Little did anyone expect that on this day, Newt Durant would pick the wrong woman and end up getting kicked in the privates.
Internally, everyone gave a little cheer, but the facade of nobility made them outwardly appear concerned. Yet no one moved, not even to call an ambulance.
"Mr. Durant, isn’t it excessive to bully my invited guests at my ball? You owe me an explanation!" Emory was furious.
Newt, clutching his lower body, felt such pain he wanted to curse. An explanation? He wanted Emory to give him an explanation! How could such a coarse woman be invited to a high society ball?
What he couldn’t say at the moment was spoken by his brother. Newt’s brother, the youngest nephew of Edith’s father, whom Hepburn Jess was meant to marry.
"Emory, my brother is hurt at your ball; shouldn’t you give him an explanation?" John Durant asked with a grim face.
Emory’s face darkened too; he was, after all, a prince. Being reprimanded in front of so many people like this was utterly inappropriate!
"John, don’t forget that your brother brought this on himself. I haven’t even blamed him for harassing my guests! I could take this matter to grandmother and let her judge!"
John sneered, eyes filled with arrogance, "Emory, are you certain Her Majesty the Queen would offend the Durant family over an unknown woman? Would Princess Edith allow it?"
He glanced contemptuously at the woman in red, knowing everyone in the circle. This woman was an Easterner and appeared to have no status. Probably someone sneaking in with some insignificant noble.
However, at that moment, a woman stepped forward from the crowd.
"Who said this woman is unknown? Emory, why invite such guests? Where are their manners?"
Everyone turned, gasping. That woman was stunning, even those who were usually blind to Eastern faces found her extraordinarily beautiful.
But the beauty’s expression was grim, her gaze as she fixed on John and Newt was chillingly cold.
"Ah... Xiao Qing, I’m truly sorry for this incident. I apologize on behalf of this misunderstanding." Emory apologized.
"There’s no need for you to apologize. These two should apologize to Xiao Feng." An Yiqing looked down at the pale-faced Newt, "Mr. Durant, Xiao Feng is under my protection. If you dare lay a hand on her, prepare to face the consequences. You have one day, or I’ll bring the matter to your doorstep."
With that, she pulled Zhang Yufeng along and left the scene. As they passed John, she shot him a glance, smiling meaningfully.
The ballroom was silent, no one could believe someone would dare be so brazen towards the Durant family! Was that woman ignorant? Or just confident?!
While everyone was distracted, Emory managed a slight smile, then sympathetically glanced at Newt, "Dear Newt, I’m sorry you’ve offended Xiao Qing. Do you know who she is? She’s An Yiqing from Xuanjin. Just recently, Edith offended her and had to publicly apologize. I hope you won’t meet the same fate."
The crowd buzzed. Recently, the royal gossip that caught everyone’s attention was Edith’s public apology. A princess apologizing publicly to an Eastern woman startled everyone upon learning the truth. An Yiqing’s name became etched in their minds.
Hearing the name once again from Emory, many felt excited. After all, she was the woman who brought Edith to heel. Now, was Newt going down Edith’s path?
Everyone eagerly anticipated what would happen next.
Meanwhile, An Yiqing left the ballroom and returned to the hotel.
In the car, Zhang Yufeng changed out of the red dress, returning to her usual attire.
"Pants are much more comfortable; skirts are so restricting and uncomfortable."
An Yiqing glanced at her, asking for the fourth time, "Xiao Feng, are you sure he didn’t touch you?"
Zhang Yufeng smiled wryly, "Miss, I swear to you, he just said a few vile words in front of me. He didn’t touch me, otherwise, how could I let him off so easily?"
An Yiqing sighed in relief, letting Zhang Yufeng handle this because she trusted her skills implicitly. But even at that moment, she felt a twinge of worry.
"But Miss, how were you sure that man would take the bait? What if he wasn’t attracted to my type? The plan would have failed, right?"
An Yiqing smiled knowingly, of course, she had a flawless plan. Before leaving, she sprayed Zhang Yufeng with a special perfume designed to trigger a reaction only for those who consumed her elixirs. Newt’s glass of red wine had already been spiked, and once he caught a whiff of Zhang Yufeng’s scent, he was bound to be enthralled.
Upon hearing this explanation, Zhang Yufeng suddenly realized. The lady’s mastery in medical and toxic arts was unparalleled; she couldn’t imagine anyone matching her lady in these skills!
