Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife – o

Chapter 2401 - 669: Surgery, Edith Poisoned_4

"Lina isn’t wrong, Big Brother, this time you really made a wrong decision." A middle‑aged man chimed in. He was Mike’s youngest brother, who’d never accomplished much and just muddled along in the family.

Standing beside him was Mike’s second brother, fifty‑nine this year. He frowned; seeing the atmosphere turn sour, he spoke up, "Big Brother has his own ideas, don’t go overboard. Neil, take Big Brother out."

The second brother’s words made Mike’s expression ease a little. Just then, footsteps sounded, and surrounded by the hospital staff like stars escorting the moon, An Yiqing walked into the ward.

"Xiao Qing." Mike called out and tried to get up. An Yiqing walked over and stopped him.

"Grandpa Arthur, just lie down. How’s the preparation? Are you scared?" she asked with a smile.

Mike smiled and shook his head. "Dear Xiao Qing, I trust your Medical Arts. So, I’m not afraid."

An Yiqing smiled, her gaze gentle.

At this moment, the man who had been silently standing by the bedside stepped forward, a pair of beautiful brown eyes fixed straight on An Yiqing.

"You’re called Xiao Qing, right? Hello, I’m Lanni Statha, my father’s younger son."

An Yiqing looked up, and her gaze instantly plunged into a sea of tenderness. The man in front of her looked about twenty‑three or twenty‑four, with fair skin, blond hair, and slightly upturned brown eyes. Below his straight, high nose bridge was a pair of soft pink thin lips. His frame was a bit on the slender side, but not skinny. His broad shoulders were held straight, as if they had never once bent. What drew people most was that pair of gentle eyes. They weren’t like Duan Tang’s fox‑like warmth, nor like Bai Yiming’s bewitching seductiveness, and even less like her own see‑through‑everything smile. This man’s gaze was filled with acceptance, peace, and warmth.

An Yiqing had never imagined that a man‑eating clan like the Stausauser Family could raise such a pure man. He was like a blank sheet of paper, so clean that everyone felt ashamed of themselves in front of him.

No wonder he could forgive his older brother and sister over and over again for what they’d done. Maybe he was hurt, but he had never truly hated them.

"Hello, my name is An Yiqing. Lanni, I’ve heard Grandpa Arthur mention you." As soon as An Yiqing finished speaking, the corner of her mouth twitched. Wasn’t that way of addressing each other a bit messed up in terms of seniority?

Lanni seemed to be startled by that form of address too. He stood dazed for quite a while before coming back to his senses. He gave a faint smile, and the two dimples at the corners of his mouth were stunning.

"Xiao Qing, thank you for saving my father the other day. Today, I’m counting on you."

An Yiqing nodded. "I’ll take good care of him."

With that, she signaled for the nurses to push Mike’s mobile hospital bed out of the room. Lanni and the others followed behind, watching as the nurses wheeled the bed into the operating room until they could no longer see it.

An Yiqing took her medical case from Zhang Yufeng, greeted Lanni and the butler Neil, and was about to go in. Just then, a voice sounded behind her.

"Hey, you, stop!"

An Yiqing’s eyes flickered, but she didn’t stop.

"Hey! Stop! I’m talking to you, didn’t you hear me?!" A figure rushed over and blocked An Yiqing’s way.

An Yiqing raised an eyebrow and looked coolly at the woman blocking her. Lina Statha, Mike’s eldest daughter.

"Ms. Statha, my name isn’t ’hey.’ And you’d better reflect on your attitude. Didn’t the Josephine Family ever teach you basic etiquette?"

Lina Statha choked. She hadn’t expected An Yiqing to be this sharp‑tongued.

"Let me ask you, if something happens to my father, what are you going to do about it?"

"What am I going to do?" An Yiqing’s lips curved in amusement as she gave Lina Statha a mocking look. "Miss Statha, what exactly do you want me to do? In terms of money, I don’t have as much as the Stausauser Family. What, do you expect me to pay with my life?"

Lina’s willow‑leaf brows shot up; An Yiqing’s words ignited her anger.

"So you’re saying you’re not confident you can cure my father, is that it? You’re not allowed to go in! I forbid you to touch my father!" As she spoke, she reached out, intending to push An Yiqing.

An Yiqing shifted her steps and quickly dodged. She lifted an eyebrow. Though this woman was impulsive, at her core she was genuinely worried about Mike. Unlike that eldest son, who’d watched from beginning to end with cold eyes, showing not the slightest concern. On that point, at least, Lina had won a sliver of her goodwill.

"Miss Lina, I never said I wasn’t confident about curing Mr. Mike’s illness. Don’t take my words out of context and let your imagination run wild. Now, I’m going into the operating room. Please step aside."
