Chapter 2380 - 666: Rivals Are Everywhere, The Dark Horse Award
Hepburn Jess turned around to look at An Yiqing, her eyes filled with inquiry.
"Miss Jess, I admire your character. I’ve forgotten our past misunderstandings, no need to bring them up. Hello, Your Highness Emory, I am An Yiqing, from Xuanjin." An Yiqing smiled gently, first offering recovery to Hepburn Jess, then introducing herself to Emory. As for Edith, the woman inexplicably harbored animosity toward her, so she decided not to initiate friendliness.
"Hello, Miss An, you are a legendary woman, I’ve heard of your name for a long time. It is an honor to see you in person today." Emory, known as the most amiable of noble youths, made An Yiqing feel very comfortable with his sunny smile and cheerful cordiality.
The two of them politely shook hands; Emory, aware of the conservative nature of the East, did not proceed with the kissing ritual. This act made An Yiqing hold a better impression of him.
Emory, Hepburn Jess, and An Yiqing gathered together, chatting about recent economic trends among nations. Edith’s complexion turned sour, standing coldly to one side.
At this moment, Gu Yelin walked over, affectionately wrapping an arm around An Yiqing’s waist.
"What are you discussing?"
An Yiqing gave him a gentle glance, "Ah Lin, let me introduce you. This is Emory, the eldest grandson of Queen Freyno. This is Miss Hepburn Jess, designated Baroness by the Queen. As for this one..."
Before An Yiqing could finish, Edith smiled elegantly and interjected.
"Dear General Gu, I am Princess Edith, Your Majesty the Queen’s most beloved granddaughter. Delightful to meet you."
Emory and Hepburn Jess looked at each other, confused by Edith’s sudden change. However, An Yiqing merely cast Edith a subtle glance and smiled silently.
Gu Yelin nodded towards Emory and Hepburn Jess, not even glancing at Edith, his gentle gaze landing on An Yiqing, "Hungry? Shall I take you to eat something?"
An Yiqing nodded obediently, following Gu Yelin. Edith, seeing this, immediately followed. Emory and Hepburn Jess were puzzled but also went to the lounge area.
The group sat in the lounge, and Gu Yelin brought An Yiqing some snacks, thoughtfully slicing them into small pieces, and considerately handed her a fork.
Both Emory and Hepburn Jess were taken aback by Gu Yelin’s thoughtfulness towards An Yiqing, while Edith’s gaze grew more heated as she looked at Gu Yelin. Handsome, noble, and considerate to his wife—if she could win him over, then all this love and gentleness would be hers, wouldn’t it?
Thinking this, Edith looked at Gu Yelin more openly, her eyes filled with intense affection.
Emory frowned, noticing Edith’s indiscretion. Such gazes he had seen often in women who admired him; was Edith harboring thoughts about Gu Yelin?
His heart sank, he cast Edith a dark glance, smilingly asked Gu Yelin, "Are General Gu and Miss An a couple? You seem to have a very good relationship."
"No, we are married." Gu Yelin responded coldly.
"Married?" Emory was taken aback, Hepburn Jess appeared surprised, while Edith’s expression darkened.
"Yes, married." Gu Yelin reiterated, "Qing and I are legally married under the protection of Xuanjin’s laws. Therefore, everyone can call her Mrs. Gu."
An Yiqing laughed looking at the serious man who seemed intent on making everyone aware of their relationship.
"Emory, Hepburn, indeed, Ah Lin and I are married. You can call me Mrs. Gu, or Xiao Qing, if you regard me as a friend."
Emory collected himself from shock, touched his nose, "Uhm, I’ll call you Xiao Qing. You’re so young, calling you Mrs. Gu feels odd. But I really didn’t expect, you’re actually married. Xiao Qing feels so young."
Hepburn Jess nodded in agreement, "An is very young, General Gu tying her down early is wise."
An Yiqing found it amusing and bewildering, while Gu Yelin deeply agreed, admiringly glancing at Hepburn Jess. Emory laughed heartily, thinking Hepburn Jess had a cold exterior but spoke entertainingly.
Only Edith’s expression turned exceedingly unpleasant.
She pondered briefly before unexpectedly speaking, "Miss An—"
Before she could finish, Gu Yelin interjected coldly, "Mrs. Gu!"
